I hardly ever check these forums while at work, but I'm on an evening duty rota today, so here until 9pm in case students working late need help,

At home, I have Firefox addons to block ads etc.... and never noticed this before... the sheer number of skim links in threads!!!

Those who don't block them... how can you read this forum without going mad??? 7 links in 2 lines of text! That seems fairly typical in the equipment forums that obviously contain more keywords.

There was one today for a lens which led to a bread making machine:D
 
I never run TP with an adblocker, it would be wrong of me to do so.
I like to think I have the mind of a fickle, but average internet user, so anything I wouldn't have personally in my browsing experience doesn't make it on the forums. It's the reason we've turned down many other stuff in the past that would intrude.
I can make them look more like the rest of the text, but then I get moaned at about that.
Skimlinks helps pay for the site, so unfortunately it's a necessary thing. It's only a bit of coloured text, hardly the end of the world is it?

I can only applaud this, I only use one other forum that relates to aviation and frankly in the last 12/18 months has become horrendous to use with adverts, they have a skimlinks type add that if your mouse gets anywhere near it it opens up a large window that takes several seconds to shrink back, there is a pop up in a corner that cannot be completely closed, plus horrid ads that pop up over the entire screen if you pass the mouse over them...

TP on the other hand, I barely ever notice adverts :clap:
