I'm looking for a bit of a favour!

Now that i've got regular work shooting sports with a couple of agencies, i thought it was about time I applied for an SJA card. Just to make getting into grounds etc a bit smoother..... I've got cuttings, letter from an agency chief, and the form filled, but i need two name of two current SJA members (or 1 if i cant get 2) to appear as proposers on my form. Now i dont know anyone else in the industry personally who is a member, so thought this might the place to find a couple of people!

If anyone would be willing to be a proposer on y application it would be much appreciated! :D (I assume its just a name on my form and they don't actually contact you)

Thanks, Rogan

if this is football related? Only three types of cards recognnised by the dataco system.. UK Press, SKY and Dataco ID ... SJA cards are not on the list AFAIK

Wrong answer :D

AIPS through SJA are recognised and accepted by Dataco and I-PBS system, as i am using my AIPS card whilst i wait for the Agency to sort of the PL ID card.

Rogan i may be able to help you out ;)

wont be the first time mate... but it is whats listed by dataco as the only three? and i presumed that would be good info :)

so you can buy an id card now?

Not really no, you have to be accepted as a member of the SJA before you can apply for the AIPS card, but to be accepted by the SJA you need evidence to show you have had work published and/or SJA member(s) to back your application

For football, rugby, swimming, athletics, all sorts really. I'm applying for the AIPS card but that is issued by the guy in charge of membership at the SJA and you need to be an SJA member first. Basically to get an SJA membership as Andy said you have to show them published work (or a letter from an editor or relevant agency department head who commissions you) AND have two current members propose you for membership (literally put two names on the form... no signatures or further details.) There is a 30quid membership fee but i wouldnt say you're buying a card as such because its fairly tightly controlled. Plus think being a member of the national body for you're profession isnt a bad idea anyway!

You can get accepted without a proposer/seconder as that is how i got mine, but i had a letter from a clubs media department and from the desk manager of the agency, along with tearsheets............you don't need a proposer but i think it makes it easier.

One thing to note is the SJA committee only meet every 3 months

And their last meeting was last week... :rules:

simmilar requirments I needed for a UK Press card.. I had to prove the majority of my earnings was from press related photography... I have a league ID and a premier league ID card as well so i hardly ever use the press card...I have rugby, football, basketbal and press ID in my bag .... anyone asks me for phot id I am stuck for choice... BUT the UK Press card is the only one that cant be copied/used

They must have changed the frequency of their meetings then because Bill Colwill, the Membership Secretary of the SJA, has informed me that the next meeting of the membership sub committee is on Wednesday 17th November and that applications should be received no later than 7 days prior to this in order to be considered.
