Football has today lost one of it's greatest characters of the modern era. A man respected by supporters from all clubs, he will be missed. A man who beat cancer 4 times has finally been defeated. :'(

very very sad , a true gentleman , with a fantastic knowledge of the game

RIP

hasnt looked at all well recently.
A great loss to football.
RIP Bobby

His enthusiasm for life and football was an inspiration. He'll be sadly missed. RIP Bobby.

footballers and fans alike will be in mourning across the world. R.I.P. Sir.

Football aside, he seemed like a genuinely nice guy... will be sadly missed.

He hung on to watch his charity match last sunday. A man who kept giving till the end, that's a trait to aspire to. I can honestly say this is probably the only person in history I'd consider one of my heros.

Big loss to humankind, but I suspect his legacy will live on for years to come.

Very sad news, I had the honour of meeting him once when he was signing books, he took time to speak to everyone of us and was a charming man. A true gentleman and a footballing legend! May he rest in peace.

A genuine nice guy, RIP :(

It was very sad to hear of the death of Sir Bobby Robson. A man who acheived so much on the field as a player and manager and a true gentleman off the pitch.

Football has lost one of its greats.

Its hard to put it into words at present for me

I was at the game last week, very sad to see him the way he was

RIP Sir Bobby

Really saddened to hear this, superb bloke who will be sorely missed.

One of the nicest guys in football.

:(

The words "great" and "Legend" are bounded about too freely these days, however, without doubt these two words fit the man. It is a sad loss to football and a sad loss to those who dont follow football.

A genuinley nice, nice man.

A very dull day indeed, God bless Sir Bob.

For a life long Ipswich Town Fan this is a very sad day indeed. To the true legend that put our club on the map for the world to see I can only salute you.

The world of football has today lost one of the true great legends who's depth of knowledge of the game has yet to be surpassed. He gave unconditionally the knowledge of the game to those who asked, even fellow managers who he was co mpeting against. He understood that football was a game made of individuals who needed to work together and ensured that people got the time and care that they needed, not just the players but all of the people involved with the club.

A true great legend who will be forever missed, not just in Ipswich, or football, but the whole world.

Thanks for the memories, the FA Cup and the UEFA cup.

RIP

A very sad day for football and a sad loss for anybody who can actually appreciate the "game" of football.

He shone through the crap, the filth, the dishonesty, the greed and the self interest of a sport full of money mad ego maniacs out of tune with the real world.

Sir Bobby was a real person, a genuine person, a person who had a passion a game he loved. Another link between football and the working class real world gone forever.

Cheerio, Bobby. Thanks for 1990

Hard to add to whats already been said, one of England's finest, who could indeed show some of today's prima donnas a thing or two, he truly will be missed not only in the world of football, but generally throughout, R.I.P sir Bobby :'(

very sad, a great man. RIP

I was never a big football fan, but this guy shone out as an example to all of how to conduct himslf and represent the game - a real gent. Sad news indeed. :(

Absolute legend, in a time where that word is severely overused.
I never met him but i think he was a true gentlemen

deserves much credit for the fundraising and work he did to raise the profile of different cancer charities

RIP SIR BOBBY. You will be missed!
