Single adults banned from falconry displays in case they're paedophiles...

I think all convicted child molesters should be dyed a bright high viz yellow and made to wear a gizmo that announces them as paedeophiles similar to the reversing lorry noise. They should also have a tracking device implanted in their gusset area that explodes when anyone under the age of say fifteen is detected within 10 yards or, even if they go online.

Its getting out of hand now and the tragedy is, its making ordinary people feel uncomfortable about what are often un avoidable situations ie carrying a large dslr, and not just near kids either. There was an oldish guy on here once who posted about having been given a tirade of abuse from a mother who spotted him with his camera in a park or something. It was heartbreaking to read the depth of unhappyness in his post. His, up until then, lovely hobby that he had had since a boy had suddenly become a target for suspicion and he pretty much didnt feel he wanted to continue anymore. The cow had really upset him, made him feel uncomfortable and distrusted, poor old sod, and that was his hobby ruined.

There must tons of examples like the falconry parks attempt to do the right thing and consequently upsetting people. What with political correctness gone mad and the fact that anyone can cast an abuse aspersion at someone and justified or not, cause devestation in that persons life, we are making a mess with this.

I think its time we introduced an absolute deterent like chemical castration and behavioural controls regardless of human rights. It should be made clear that if cought, they will be stopped by whatever means and regardless of how barbaric. That makes their crimes a life choice for them and not something they can get away with twice.

End of rant

Thank heavens

I truly wonder and I'm sure there must be figures around somewhere.
Is paedophilia a "growing problem",
Are there more about now than say 50 years ago,
or is it just "hype"
fuelled by the internet?

I wouldn't mind betting that it was as prevalent then as it is now. The difference is how quickly information makes its way around these days through social media.

The other problem is all the brain dead idiots willing to believe everything they read and not instigate one iota of critical thinking.

That's pretty much my line of thought( s) too ;)
I just wondering if there are any hard and fast facts.
(Yes I know, you should never let facts get in the way of a good discussion :D )

no, rather tackle the neurosis problem regarding perverts rather like I posted in the Halloween thread. Musn't let children walk to school because of the risks posed by perverts but OK to trick or treat or carol sing knocking on stranger's doors on dark nights

I recall an incident of a lost child who could have been helped earlier, but as the guy said I was driving a white van, just imagine the reaction if I had encouraged a child to get into it

Apologies for cherry picking but this really boils my urine. Everybody is assumed guilty of something, by somebody who doesn't know them from Adam, but can in a moment, know they're up to no good. Myself and my friends got searched by the police when we were younger (about 14) because somebody had reported us for dealing and taking drugs in a park. In actual fact we were sat by the river just having a laugh as youngsters do.

The copper in question was an absolute pig of a man. As soon as he arrived he gave us a barrage of verbal abuse and asked "where's the blow?!" to which I replied,"I don't even know what it is" (genuinely hadn't even heard of the term). Seconds later, I was spread up against a wall, having my shoes taken off and pockets turned out all because of some idiot busy body who had nothing better to do.

Sorry for the off topic post but I thought it highlighted quite nicely the effect such accusations can have.

James

PS Ken, that wasn't aimed at you :)

I see this park is still selling single adult memberships.

Why not? You can pay, just not go in. Simples.

I just read the paying by direct debit rules. Two forms of ID before you can start a direct debit? An extra charge if you ever cancel and then want to take out membership again? Pay up front before the DD takes effect? Is this normal practice now?

I think they should amend that to read ...

Adults will only be admitted if accompanie
From that link:

"If you cannot trust civic authority figures then, simply, who can you trust?"

Seemly we should trust no one according to that. My head just exploded!

You got it in one. That's exactly the direction that this country is headed.

Its always been prevalent, take a look back in history from Victorian England to the Roman Empire :(

I know it's very naughty to take quotes out of context, but I can't resist quoting part of their access statement (heading "Access for all")/ Emphasis mine :)

We want to encourage every single visitor to be able to see every part of our park

It does seem ridiculous that you need to prove who you are in order to pay someone. I could understand it if you were being paid.

As for ID, the most ridiculous thing I have come across recently is that the local college wanted a photo ID for my daughter when she started college this year. Her passport was not accepted as it expired a year ago. Why? She's still the same person!

It makes you wonder what their Terms of Employment must be like ....

may be in order to be ultra safe they shouldnt admit any visitors , in case they are paedophiles - then they wouldnt need any staff either so it'be a win win

Surely the official answer is that you can trust anyone who has passed a CRB check, and thereby proved that they are too clever to have been caught yet...

I've mentioned before the incident a couple of years ago where i was vilified and indeed probably libelled on one of the mummy forums because I refused to stop a landscape photographer evil paedophile from taking pictures of the beach landscape her darling children , and even dared to suggest that she might be slightly misguided full of s*** in thinking that ever photographer is an evil paedophile.

cue about 30 paranoid mummmies whangng on about how people like me shouldn't be allowed in positions of responsibility if we don't take the non existent threat these sinister landscape photgraphers evil paedophiles pose seriously.

Confronted with tht degree of paranoia from their target customer base i can kind of see how puxton arrived at their policy - albeit that they then made a massive f*** up of implemting it and handling the fall out

Sorry One other thing

They are quoting the councillor as being the reason for the rule but he was operating in the last couple of years and their rules have been in place seven years.

Sweet I'm covered on all grounds... have a wife 2 kids and a cat and many bank accounts... now the police aren't onto me time to commit some fraud. lol :D:D

Yeah, great Bryn, glad you are OK, my missus and I have no kids, I am fat and have no dress sense, we have no pets, and we go out for walks around our village late at night - we are totally f-----d:help:

Or is Santa the one doing the messing :p

He goes out alone without Mrs Christmas and goes into children's bedroom to leave presents ;). Just hope he doesn't take a camera. :D

Sorry to ruin it for you Bryn, but there is no "Mrs Santa", it is just the same old (and I do mean SAME OLD) Santa - you know where I am going with this fella?
So folks, this is Christmas, put up the decorations, decorate the tree, and please do not forget the razor wire around the roof and chimney.

It's a complete joke and happens elsewhere in the country apparently, in the "fine print" usually the hidden small print in brochures and stuff

I just realised.. what they are saying is.. you cant come in on your own you might be a pedophile.. so go get a child and come baclk....... is it my sense of humour or is that funny :)

sounds about right to me

Reading this thread and the whole strange man fear thing brings a couple of things to mind...

When my father was alive the only time I saw him sobbing like a child was one day when a good dead came quickly back to haunt him. He was pottering about in the garden when he saw a young girl playing out with her dress hitched up at the back and tucked into her pants and he made the dreadful mistake of going over an rearranging her clothing and of course within minutes the parents were at the door screaming the P word, shouting the vilest insults and issuing all kinds of threats. I arrived after all this thank God. How sad that a kind and loving and completely innocent act can backfire so quickly and reduce a good man to a sobbing wreck not understanding how it all went wrong while at the same time turning hopefully good parents into screaming hate filled monsters.

My second thought is how sad it is that men can't enjoy the simple and innocent pleasure of watching children play. In a better world wouldn't it be quite wonderful to go to that park and just watch the children enjoying themselves in the 90% childrens areas? Particularly if you don't have children or if yours have grown and flown the nest.

It's a depressing state of affairs.

Indeed it is very sad. The Irony of it all though is those who agree with the policy on FB probably haven't even made their profiles private. This means their photos of their precious children playing most likely at puxton park are available to the world and even worse maybe even ones in Bath etc.....

"If you cannot trust civic authority figures then, simply, who can you trust?"

This reminds me of the last line in the 1980s film, Young Einstein.

Einstein had discovered the secret of splitting the beer atom (don't ask) and decided to give his findings to the government with the line "If you can't trust the governments of the world, who can you trust?".

Never heard of Puxton Park before now, but it's now on my places to avoid list. I have no wish to fill the coffers of a place run by retards. Clearly, it IS run by retards who can't be arsed doing any research, and just pander to the brain sickly readers of red top rags, who will all no doubt rejoice in this safe haven for their little darlings to wander around in. ****ing idiots.

Retard is the word. As a convicted drink driver the owner obviously poses no danger to children. Well... Not until he gets his licence back.

In this country, and other so called "civilised" countries, if you are a man you are not allowed to celebrate the beauty of young children anymore without being considered with suspicion ……. how things have changed over the last 50 years.
You almost have to hide your gaze if you see children playing or walking with their parents.

It would be interesting for the "experts" to tell us why?

Why? Because we're losing the ability to think in society. We're fed dogma and ideology by the media, and in this fast paced, information hungry society, we soak it up and form opinions from it that foolishly we think are our own, when in reality, we're being worked upon.

Question everything. Read... form your own opinions. Reject what you are told, and have this as your default position. Disbelieve what you read, see, hear, ESPECIALLY from mainstream media with a political agenda.

some people may, (be losing the ability to think), and some people have never even thought ……… but government and politicians are all about controlling the masses, (voters), using fear so that they remain in power and are considered to be needed.
