Single adults banned from falconry displays in case they're paedophiles...

If you really want a chuckle, go have a look at all the militant mums on their facebook page and their replies to anyone who questions the policy statement...

I am not sure my blood pressure or tolerance levels would stand it to be honest Richard, TP is positively sane and ordinary compared to such rantings :D

I'm not on Facebook but I take it it's not the place to point out the incidence of female paedophiles and that they're (almost) certainly under reported and under prosecuted (according to some studies.)

I think you would literally have a hoard of pichfork wielding women after you for the rest of your life.

Maybe a former Home Secretary should vet them on the gate

I read this this morning with a feeling of disbelief and sorrow at the state of the country. To be fair to the park they did point out that had he phoned up and told them he wanted to go to the falconry display he would have been able to do so. However he would have been escorted rather like a prisoner on remand to it by a member of park staff.

So you have to phone to book a chaperone? Couldn't they just find somebody to escort him when he arrived at the gate?

What a nightmare it would be, if all places adopted this attitude :(

What a shame how things have gone, just a little more difficult trying to enjoy the hobby of photography. Oh to be back in the day when you would get a wave or a smile, when you took some ones photo. you get viewed with suspicion taking a persons photo now!

Disgusted,of course their never be a paedophile who has had children of their own or been married :(

I better stop using the expression "well b****r me" then

presumable it's not PC any more

It looks to me like the huge majority of people commenting on their Facebook site are against the policy, and there are some excellent comments. I've added my weight to them and I suggest everybody else should too.

Remember to comment on their forthcoming visit by Santa ... hang on, he's a single male surely? Or their support for Remembrance Sunday, in memory of all the people who gave their lives ... no, wait a sec, they were mostly single men, weren't they? Or their Carnival day featuring "petting time" and "sausage making demo" ... you couldn't make it up.

Yup, there is a whole lot of people against the policy, which is good.

And very refreshing.

Could this not be termed sexual harassment? After all they are saying that single males are likely to be paedophiles.

Don't think they are only referring to Men in the lone adults.... I would never visit this park its ridiculous.

It has fallen for all the media hype and completely misses the undeniable facts around the issue.

Sorry, of course females can be predatory as well. Rose West springs to mind!

Sample quote off facebook if anyone is not on Faceboink.

"Think this is a good thing.
Why would a lone adult want to be surrounded by screaming kids anyway ?
Our children need protecting even more than before with the Internet etc"

So No peadophilia/Rings before the internet...

The really annoying thing about all this publicity is, it'll probably boost his custom!

My favourite from the comments in the article:

It is a well known fact that all single people are paedophiles and murderers and people with only 1 child are molesters and people who don't have a dog or cat are cruel to animals and people who don't have a bank account are bank robbers this is how the police catch these people.

Steve.

I would hope so, Yv, but I wouldnt be at all suprised if it wasnt.

What is more worrying is that by taking this action, the Park and possibly other like minded people, may think it makes paedophilia less likely.

I wonder if this being omitted from their Rules of Admission, and tucked away towards the end of the Prices page, was deliberate?

I was going to say it is an example of a badly thought out policy, but really it is so ridiculous it should never have got this far.

Can only hope the publicity might make the Park change their policy.

Some years ago I was thrown out of an indoor climbing wall arena because I was a solitary old guy with a big camera. As I explained, the reason I was taking photographs was because I wanted to offer them to the owners as publicity shots, since their own publicity shots were terrible, their finances were terrible, and as an enthusiastic user of the arena I wanted to help them to get more customers. The staff member pointed out very fiercely & rudely that it would be difficult for my shots not to have included a child here or there in the photograph, none of those children would have been mine, and they had strict rules about unaccompanied men with big cameras taking photographs of other people's children. What's more every single adult that was in any one of my photos would need to have signed a model release before I took the photograph. A passer by was so outraged by all this that he pointed out where his own children were climbing, and said very loudly that I had his full permission to take as many photographs of them as I liked, and do whatever I liked with the photographs. I was nevertheless thrown out.

I'll keep the name private, since that may have been an old policy or an over zealous staff member no longer with them. Their publicity photos are still crap :-)

My favourite quote from one of the idiots commenting on FB.....

"I understand why u have that policy with all whats going on nowadays....."

Y'know, what with paedophilia being such a new thing 'an all....the stupidity astounds me.

Sensationalist media wins again. :(

Steve.

Sweet I'm covered on all grounds... have a wife 2 kids and a cat and many bank accounts... now the police aren't onto me time to commit some fraud. lol :D:D

Just down the road from me and it really is appalling ... if I had known they were running falconry displays I would have been another to have turned up with camera! and been refused entry.
The guy was interviewed on the local lunchtime news and reportedly is himself CRB checked.
If the policy on terrorism is that we continue as normal or the terrorists have won, what is this saying about the paedophiles?

To be honest i would have thrown you out as well.. its this sort of behaviour that give photogrpahers a bad name... You shouldnt just turn up and impose yourself.. somehting like that should have been organised in a dvance.. very poor form IMHO

It wouldnt surprise me, given that this is already happening at a wildlife/theme(?) park, if it spread to other areas as well. Whats next? Soon I wont be able to go into Hamleys to buy toys for Christmas for my Daughter without her being there.

So, this place is messing with Santa as well :D

Or is Santa the one doing the messing :p

He goes out alone without Mrs Christmas and goes into children's bedroom to leave presents ;). Just hope he doesn't take a camera. :D
