Don't seem to be any threads on this company and they sell a fair bit of camera related kit at good prices.

Only found out after ordering that they have a bit of a reputation so tread carefully before using.

I ordered an in stock lens but after 5 days and no dispatch I cancelled the order. The cancellation was received okay (had to do on email as phoned and was told they can't cancel an order over phone)

The item then went into Refund Pending status and stayed there. Mailed them after day 4, 5 and 6. Got a reply after 5 days to the first mail. When phoning there is a queue of 40 minutes so I gave up and contacted my credit card company as have a bad feeling on this one. Luckily this is where credit cards come in handy as the credit card company have now frozen the amount so I don't pay any interest and have raised a dispute so I will get my money back in 4 weeks or so.

There are A LOT of similar stories when searching for them...

Sorry. Would have linked to a few, but the App is pretty pants for doing that! :)

Apologies, did a search on Simplyelectronics and found nothing. Guess it was too long a word. Wish I had looked here first and will do next time before trying out a shop

I ordered a lens form them a couple of years back that stated 'in stock' on their website. When I had still not received it after a week or so, I had a nightmare getting hold of them only to be told they couldn't tell me when I would get the lens.

Can't remember how I went about cancelling the order now, but I did cancel and it was over a month before the money was refunded back to my card.

Needless to say I wouldn't ever consider using them again :shake:

That's because they're called "Simply Electronics", not "Simplyelectronics" ;)

At the risk of being called a search amateur, would that not find any thread with the word 'simply' or 'electronics', but a good point.
I was using it as one long word to match the website address which obviously doesn't have a space between the two words.

not if you search for "simply electronics" , with the quotes

Just to chip in with my experience of Simply Electronics. As you'll no doubt find out from the other threads they are a company who claims to be UK based but are actually in China (or somewhere equally as far).

I ordered a lens from them, quoted 7 days delivery on the website, turned up after more or less a month of being 'pending'. No reply to 5 emails and impossible to get through to on the phone, as you righly say.

I honestly beleive that they are a genuine (rather than fraudulent) company, just not a very good one. The customer service is non-existant. I think their trick is to advertise items as being in stock, wait until they get enough orders for the same item and buy them in bulk to save money.

Wish I'd done the research before purchasing and not been jazzed by the cheap price.

Hope you get sorted.

I've bought stuff (low value) from them before without any issues, actually several items all at the same time from different SE Ebay accounts, all claiming to be in different countries - they all came from the same sender address....

TBH... I found that Onestopdigital will beat their price...if they are lower...and I can recommend highly...great fast service...

Just wanted to chip in after using them for a couple of lenses recently and in the past.

Based on my experience, low value items they stock in the UK and ship quickly. High value items they don't. It took almost 2 weeks to get mine, after sending a water bill and chasing them about 6 times. But I knew this delay was a risk going in, and I saved £700 vs amazon.

As long as you are prepared to wait, chase, send various utility bills and above all don't cancel unless you want to spend weeks+ waiting for a refund, they're seem to be okay. That said I'd never order something electronic like a camera from then due to warranty issues.

But, the lenses seem sturdy and sharp, and tbh it's pretty hard to fake an L lens as far as I can tell.
