I know this is very boring but....

I'm thinking of buying from the above supplier. Does anyone have any thoughts on buying from them.

I know Graham - but I was being lazy :D

Plus - I was looking for some recent experiences and wondered if anyone had bought from them in recent weeks?

i have only had one buy from them and found them very good , i got my niffty fifty from them

I've bought from them before. From what I can remeber it was fine. I think a lot of stuff is grey imports though, hence the lower prices, but you do get their 1 year guarantee, or you used to do.

As with anything though, you only find out if a company is good or bad if something goes wrong and you have to make a complaint or whatever...

I think that settles it Tony. Think I'll stick to my usual suppliers.

Cheers mate.

Probably a sensible move, though I've got a couple of state of the art HD ready macro zoom lenses, multifit, for a fiver if your interested.

regards john.

Thanks Ray and John. I'm tempted to give them a go. I guess it's like everything in life - you have to make your own mind up.....

bought a canon 580exii from simply electronics,i went with them as their price was unbeatable at £272.95 and 2% quidco, but after paying on friday, there was no sign of it being despatched by the next thursday despite their claims of delivery in 2-5 days,so i emailed to complain, got a reply next day saying they were trying their best to clear orders asap and upgraded me to express delivery, got an email last night to say the flashgun had been despatched by next day delivery, got it this afternoon, moral of the story:cheapest aint always quickest nor the best,i'll be reluctant to use them again

I wouldn't.

A friend of mine ordered a 5dmkII but got delivered someone else's order, a £10000 order which was missing a £4500 item!!

He had to send it back before he got his, they then tried to accuse him of stealing the item missing even though it wouldn't fit in the box!!!

Not worth the hassle / risk imho.

No change in customer service at Simply Electronics. Here's my story:

I ordered a new £700 camera from their website but wanted to specify my work address as the delivery address. I was told to use PayPal to pay as they couldn't ship to secondary addresses if I paid with my credit card. I proceeded and I was debited by PayPal almost immediately.

The next day they emailed me and told me that they needed me to send details of the card I paid with and provide proof of residence at my work address. Two things which of course I am unable to do as I didn't pay by card and I don't live at work!

Anyway due to the fact that they have outsourced their help desk it is impossible to reach them on the phone. They are also only capable of sending one email per day (but even then they are unable to reply to any specific questions). They will also not call you however many times you ask them to. The customer service I have received is non-existent.

I still haven't received my camera and it's been a lot longer than the time they specify on their website. I am now going to try to reclaim my money through PayPal. I would strongly advise anyone to steer well clear of this company.
