Simply Electronics - Any good

Took a long time to deliver my lens (1-2 weeks) but it was the best price by far.
I just asked them for a copy of my invoice after 8 months, and they were very quick. So good customer service after the sale.

The couple of times that I have contacted in the past about items and asked if they were UK models or grey imports I got a very fluffy long winded reply saying that they were UK models sourced direct from the factories or overseas suppliers and that if any warranty work was needed to return it to them and that their engineers would carry out the work. reading between the lines I would say that they were grey imports.

Bought a G10 a while back, best price, took a while to reply and were a bit slow to keep me posted by email but otherwise no problems.

I just bought a 120-400 siggy from them and to be honest i panicked because i ordered and payed before i found some ill reports of them, but and a big but is, i contacted them asking for them to commit themselves as to when i would take delivery and although it was a little longer than expected (2-7 days) it turned up exactly as stated, on the seventh day. So in conclusion i would buy from them again but not if i am expecting next day delivery or should i say 2 days instead of 7.

Seem to remember the last time this came up, there was a .co.uk, and a .com, they were different companies.
One was good, one was almost a scam

Yea like everyone else has said, dont do it, I ordered a bridge camera from them for my Brother in laws birthday and they delivered it around 9 weeks late, they take your money immidiatly then dont deliver on time, if you ask for a refund they take ages to give you your money back, not recommended Im afraid.......

It takes longer to arrive as it comes from Japan or origin of item it seems.
Ive bought a couple of times off them and had no probs. However I will let you know on my latest dealings with them.
Bought an 18-270 Tamron Mid June last year. Contacted them early July to say I thought there was a focus problem tight in the middle and noisy and didnt seem to focus spot on in that area of zoom. Had email back saying I probably wasnt used to the lens and to try reading the instructions. Left it a while and it started to not auto focus if you zoomed straight out. if you auto focused at 18mm then zoomed out it would work. Took it to our local Jessops manager to look at in case it was me. He tried it on different cameras and it did same & he agreed something wrong .
So it has now been sent back to Simply Electrnics Isle of Wight, they will have had it 10 days on Tuesday so waiting to hear.
On their email it states that it can take up to 10 days to process and possibly a further 28 days for repair and that they try to do it sooner if possible. So will let you know how I go on.
I wasnt aware that they were grey imports either untill after and then tracked mine and where it was dispatched from. First lens I bought was white box and stated as such. No mention of this being grey and at the time there wasnt a lot of difference in prices on the net I just went with them again as the first lens had been a good one.

got a d7000 from them at a good price, took about 10 days to arrive but it was over the holiday period.
no hassles really..

Try Digital Rev or Kerso, both on here, both have better reputations and prices are competitive.

I used them over a year ago and my order took just under a week too arrive which was ok enough,
then 3 month later it developed a fault so i had too return it too a UK address which then forwarded it too a Hong kong address i think  anyhow must took about 7 week to get it back repaired.

So i didn't really have too bad a experince with them, only the long repair time made me think and tbh it wasn't there product that was faulty it's just that a 7 week wait is a long time too should problems occur with a product :(

Price are quite good.

My order (last year) took over a week to deliver. Also, I had to remind them that I had placed an order and was waiting, at that stage they realised and sent my order.

Some

Try finding a good one!

I got a Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 for £109 (cheapest at the time) and had no problems at all.

My wife bought my 7D from them for Christmas. It was delayed a little, but due to the snow. So no fault on their part.
It was a UK model with UK warranty.
In all was the cheapest by far when she bought it and all good:thumbs: from me.

I just bought some SDHC cards from them as hardly anyone has them in stock yet (new Sandisk Extreme Pro). Good price and delivered as promised.......can't complain.

Everytime I've tried to order something from them I get an email (later in the day) stating that the item in question is out of stock - so then cancelled waiting for refund to arrive then going elsewhere to buy....

Given the press that Simply get I thought I'd try them out with by purchasing an inexpensive Kenko TC from them.

I was told up front how long the delivery would be and they actually delivered a day or two in advance of when they stated. The goods were fine and VERY cheap. I have no idea what their warranty situation is though but the same could be said of other suppliers.

So, if you want something in a hurry try Warehouseexpress or someone else.

If you are prepared to wait, my experience is that these people are ok. Saved about £50on the TC by the way. I definitely would purchase from them again.

Regards

hi, just thought i would share this with you all,I ordered and paid for a sigma 150-500 for my canon on 03/02/2011 (£649)was told 2-7 day delivery as of yet i have still not got the lens. After contacting them by phone and email they have said the lens was delivered and signed for by me on the 16/02/2011.Now they are dragging there haels saying the can't give a refund until they speak to dpd the carrier.I have asked for prof of delivery but had no reply. All i get is "Have you asked if anyone else has got it in your area?".I paid with PayPal does anyone know if i can raise it with them to get a refund? thanks in advance

I ordered up a canon 300 2.8 L Is and canon 2x extender from them on 29th January 2011, after the 2 to 7 days had passed I started emailing them asking when it would be delivered, they came back on the 7th Feb stating that the lens had been damaged in transit (no mention of the extender) and that they could not give me a date when a new one would be delivered. I immediately cancelled the order and asked for a full refund. Over the next few
weeks, I was told many times that my refund was being processed, I was unable to contact them by phone, eventually I threatened legal action to recover funds and I got
notification on the 24th Feb 2011 that the funds were being sendtto my credit card
It took several more days but they did eventually show up.
I would avoid like the plague

I recently purchased a Nikon D3S from Park Camera's, although a little more expensive than Simply Electronics, they assured me they were not grey imports. I purchased the D3S and it was delivered the very next day. First class service.

Well Im still waiting for the return of my Tamron 18-270 which they have had in their possesion they admit since the 5th Jan. Been fobbed off with one excuse after another with semi auto replies. and now been told they will try and hurry it up. Was bought Mid June last year I notified them July I thought something wrong then again in Nov when definiately knew it was wrong.

Does anybody know if I have any rights as to getting a refund or how long an exceptable waiting time is for repair.

ive had some Compact Flash cards and lens cleaners off them came within 3 days, dont think i would buy anything over £200 of them just in case
