Simple Pleasures

Mmmmm - Green & Blacks......!

Can't believe no-one's mentioned.....climbing into a bed freshly made with clean sheets!

also - the smell of warm cat
Getting into bed on a cold night to find that Ben's been lying on my side to warm it up for me
The sound of Ben's key in the door at night - always makes my heart lift.
Getting home and the cat hearing the sound of the car and coming runnning up- miaowing her little head off
Winning something (not often but in the last few weeks it's been a pub quiz and then some concert tickets in a raffle last week - gig is tomorrow night and I can't wait!)
having a weekend either in or out with two of my best friends in the world - katharine & Vic. We do this occassionally and always have a ball!
seeing someone open a present that you've chosen for them and their face lighting up with delight.

OOOH - forgot one -

Once a year, driving off the Ferry onto the Hebrides and knowing we have two weeks of peace and bliss in the most beautiful place imaginable.

9.45 tomorrow morning.......

Grendel - "Sorry I'm late everyone, had to pop to Sainsbury's on my way in"

Colleagues - "How come"

Grendel - "You wouldn't understand"

Drinking chocolate too!!!

they make drinking choc too ! mmmmmm ;)

Now that stuff is NICE!!!

Oh - my bar of choice vote would go for the Maya Gold - the spiced Orange one....mmmmm!

Lovely thread - ANyone else like the smell of freshly cut grass..and that's in the garden before the wisecracks ;)

Yeah, there's something about that smell. I can't find words for it but yes!

i like the smell of the first rain drops on dry pavement

i like the smell of forest mud on hot engines and exhausts mixed with the smell of high octane petrol (anyone who's been to a motorsport event will know that smell:) )

i like time alone walking with the dog

ice cream......lots of ice cream

Just an update on chocolate.

Green & Blacks (which I sell in my deli) is great and I too love the Butterscotch, has been bought by Cadburys so expect it to be everywhere soon.

You probably have a local chocolataires near you. If you don't can I recommend two:

One is www.cocoamountain which is about as far as away as you can get at Durness in the North West of Scotland (Cape Wrath!). A new company they make truffles that are quite extraordinary (my fav is chilli and lemongrass). They offer mail order and need support as it is a long hard winter up there. Tell them Gary sent you ;)

Maya in Strathpeffer is a Belgian husband and wife team who are genuine choclatiers and make the finest chocolates I have yet to taste. If you visit their shop they will serve you a hot chocolate drink that you will find equal too. I do not think they mail order as they are sooo busy but you can try them on
Maya Belguim Chocolates
Strathpeffer, Ross-Shire IV14 9DE
Tel: 01997 420008

And of course we have a decent selection as well but that would be blatant advertising

You can tell I love food, eh! :D ....... oh, and I am kinda fond of a tipple too!

LOL Hey if you sell online, share your link! :D We don't mind when it comes to chocolate :D

OH ... MY ... GOD !!!

Ive just landed on Chocolate mountain ... mmmm! chocolate heaven morelike
Its situated in a very pretty place too ... perhaps a worthy consideration for the 'meet possibilites' next summer?
Im sure things dont come any better.... lots of photo opps ...and chocolate!

Gary ... didnt know Cadburys had taken over G&B ... so long as they dont change the recipe to that of their own brown plastic! :gag:

Yep, it's on my list.

By the way, on the subject of G&B chocolate icecream: it's divine and I get mine from Sainsbury's. Never found it in my Tesco's yet.

I agree with Glo....lets go to chocolate mountain for a TP outing!

If you are going to Durness (and you should at least once in your life) then cocoa mountain is a real treat but so is the Mackays Hotel (where you should stay) and the beaches, don't get me started about the beaches.
:)

As long as they remember to send me another free box I don't mind ;)

My list:

My kids' smiles - because they're the genuine ones
The feeling when someone appreciates work or a favour that you've done for them
The smell after a really good thunder storm
Crisp and fresh morning air when there's not a cloud in the sky
The intangible feeling when things just seem to be going right and everything clicks effortlessly into place
New friends
The anticipation you feel when someone shows you the same level of interest as you show them
When a plan all comes together after upsets along the way
Knowing damn well that I've played a really good gig - regardless of how many people are there
A guitar sound that sends shivers down my spine, at a volume that can rearrange your internal organs
Others rating a photo or piece of music of mine
A cup of tea when you get in from the cold
Real log fires in a pub

Plenty more, but that'll do for now...!

Working so hard, putting every bit of intensity and power in to that one moment in time that will never happen again..........then sitting down after its all over taking a deep breath and looking at what you sparked others to do :)

Making a diffrence :)

A warm bed in the morning.

A ice cold glass of pepsi on a hot day .

A hot day with blue sky's as far as the eye can see.

Players that are willing to put their body on the line with no fear and have total confidence in what you are telling them with no question or regret because they know you've been their and that you would do it for them.

Looking at images on this site and just ....................WOW!

back in the day playing my sax in the dundee music center with the echo's and when you hit a low note just right, the deep, full and rich sound that makes your stomach roll with the vibrations coming thought the floor .

TPF and all the wonderful people on it :)

For drivers:
Getting a clear road and green lights all the way through Slough... or anywhere else for that matter.
Programming the TomTom properly so that it actually takes you to where you expected to go via the route you expected to be taken on (still testing it out by getting to navigate on routes I already know to be quicker/faster/shorter), rather than via Poznan in Poland.
Correctly predicting the d*ckhead in front of you doing something utterly stupid and taking remedial action before it happens... thus confirming that you are an omniscient driving God...

Arkady - I agree with your driving ones.:)

VENOMATOR
You're gonna be in trouble!!!!! I read that quote and thought "Euww!" then realised who'd allegedly written it!

Getting a clear road and green lights all the way through Slough...

Jeez, when was the last time THAT happened? Thay changed the phasing of the lights to prevent that kind of thing. The b**stards!

 @ Witch ... Ooops ... :naughty:

Slip of the keyboard ... :embarrassed: ... NOT ... :D

:p

Aha! If you drive at a steady 39mph all the way through town (slowing to 25 past the Hospital on Albert St and 20 past the Primary School on Yew Tree Rd), it's just possible, if you hit the lights at green coming up to the junction of Albert St and Windsor Rd to get green all the way through to the end of the dual carriageway part of Uxbridge Rd as long as the Mosque doesn't empty out 5 minutes before you get there.

Most days I hit red at all of them... which is why it feels so good when I see green all the way and no Cavalier/Nova/Clio drivers get in the way.

My list, written almost as one of those subconcious train of thought things...

the smell of new mown grass
a crisp, frosty morn at dawn, walking in the countryside
a beautiful sunrise or sunset
that first pint of real ale sat in a beer garden in a country pub
another pint of ale sat by the roaring log fire in a country pub in winter
walking in snow (doesn't happen often in Fenland, hence heading to the Yorkshire Dales between Xmas and New Year)
hearing a rock song that moves my spirit
sharing any of the above with my wife makes them even stronger

that's a start

....... and no ........Clio drivers get in the way.

OI! You can go and stand in the naughty corner with Ven!!!

Well HIMUPNORTH kindly sent me some Green and Blacks which came in the post today.

Cries from my children of "Daaaad, can we have some" were met with "No chance, b****r off".
I tasted each flavour bit by bit and OMG what a difference.
My wife doesnt really like what she calls 'Dark Chocolate' so wasnt keen on the Bittersweet 70% one, but she did like the Orange and Spices one, and the vanilla white one.

I, however, drooled over them all.
Normally with chocolate (the rubbish fat laden cadbury type with chocolate 'flavouring' lol)....I tend to want to keep stuffing my face, but with this stuff, I savoured each mouthful, and didn't want to rush it. I still have only tried a few pieces of each of the 3 bars. I can actually put it down, yet enjoy it more? How wierd is that?

However, I would like to say thanks to HUN, and as for Green and Blacks....WOW :D I'll certainly be buying some more of THAT this weekend :D

How lovely of Gary to send you a selection.

Tis indeed a divine pleasure, isnt it Marcel?
Im the same, with the 'other' stuff ... son bought me a Praline Flake today ... gone in a nano, dunno why I bothered, brown bit of plastic!

Now Green & Blacks, you pop a bit in ... and you just savour it... mmm!
The 150g bar can last me the best part of a week, cos I just have tiny nibbles.
You know what they say Marcel ... 'Once youve had Black's ...theres no turning back' ...well tis something like that anyhow! :D

'Once youve had Black's ...theres no turning back' ...well tis something like that anyhow! :D

Is that what they say? In that context? ;)

Never had it myself, but I am rather partial to the occassional slab of Lindt choccy now and again...

I went out & tried some G&B's chocolate too. Very nice :) It's proper 'grown up's' chocolate isn't it? Very sickly which is why I didn't manage a full bar  but much, much nicer than Cadbury's. Also bought some of their hot chocolate and some extra thick squirty cream..... it's really helping me get into shape :suspect:

Bought a tub of the G&B chocolate icecream yesterday and hid it in the back of the freezer, so no-one knows its there..........!;)
Just a spoonful at a time.....it should last all the way through Christmas, with a bit of luck :D
