So you're asking if a lens designed to fit the Nikon mount would fit a teleconverter that has the Nikon mount ???

No idea with Nikon, but not all Canon lenses work on their TC's so can see the point in asking.
I know some Nikon lenses rely on the body for driving the AF so presumably that wouldn't transmit through a TC
*EDIT* Not such a daft question, this might help https://www.nikonians.org/reviews/nikonians-tele-converter-compatibility-table
Looks like the answer is no if its a Sigma AF lens, it was indeed tricky
What lens are you think of using? The general rule is Nikon lens lens and Nikon tc, sigma lens and sign act to ensure compatibility. Like arclight says it depends on the lens you are using, some can't physically work as the rear element can come into contact with the teleconverter element.A Nikon mount sigma lens would a Nikon teleconverter fit ?
Is it a possible or a for sure ?
Sadly its not that simple. I seem to remember the Nikon 1.4x teleconverter has a small tab on it to ensure it cannot be connected to non Nikon lenses (sigma etc). Some grind this tab off but others use the kenko teleconverter as it doesn't have the tab and can fit any lens. Getting the teleconverter to fit onto the lens is the first issue, the next. issue is the elements touching as the teleconverter protudes slightly into the lens. Then there is the loss of light and its effect on auto focus speed and function, and on image quality degradation. So you're asking if a lens designed to fit the Nikon mount would fit a teleconverter that has the Nikon mount ???

I don't think so. My experience is that Nikon-fit Sigma lenses don't attach to Nikon teleconverters, and you need to use a Sigma teleconverter. Thanks for comments looks like there may be an issue here I was thinking the new sigma 500 f4 sport so it's a big investment I have two Nikon teleconverters I would like to use with it
