The TP 52 - 2025 SimonB - 52 for 2025 - Week 52 - Done and all caught up!

Gah! I've fallen behind again. It has been a tough couple of weeks with my mum's health wobbling, so my head hasn't been in the game, but thankfully, she is showing some improvement.

I had always intended to use Batman to cast a shadow and the sun was in the right place. I thought it would be quicker to grab Batman and the iPhone wonder and take a picture before the sun disappeared behind a cloud.

Simple enough picture and now to give snappers choice a bit of thought!

Still catching up ha!

Currently staying on the Isle of Man this weekend, it is one of my favourite places to visit. Plenty to see and do and my brother and I took a walk up to see Milners tower. It was incredibly windy which unfortunately meant I was unable to use my drone as I would have liked a unique angle. However, I took this picture in the shadow of the tower and despite the sky being very grey over the last few days it looked great here.

Carrying on with the catch up we took a walk through some plantations on the way to Laxey. This was the very muddy path after the rain! I was ok wearing walking boots however my ended up with a very muddy pair of trainers.

If you lift the shadows on the tower picture, you can get a lot more detail on the building and rocks below it.

Nice muddy path looks very uninviting, my dog would love it.

Nice mini catch up.

Thanks!

I intended the tower to look dark and foreboding, perhaps it didn’t quite hit the mark. It was surprising how much detail could be pulled back by playing round with the settings. Always the way with dogs got to find the worst way to get messy! :ROFLMAO:

Really good catch-up Simon.

Thanks very much!

I like the sun behind the tower, very effective, have you tried changing the contrast to get the tower even further into darkness ?

Thanks Alan, it was an attempt at making the tower dark while retaining a little detail. I should have made a bit more of an effort and photoshopped the tower darker but I am quite lazy.

A good opportunity to grab both themes I needed yesterday, as I went to a comic con for the first time, which was an experience in itself.

I saw these stairs heading towards the cinema, didn't fancy climbing all of them.

I hope this picture ticks the box for geometric and the technique, lots of repeating shapes here.

A good catch-up. Your Stairs shots could have also served for Geometric.

Yep - two nicely shot shots :)

Great set Simon, both shots work really well.

Yet another catch up, I had even taken the first two at the same time when week 20 was due but I never got around to uploading them.

Week 19 - Symmetry

I thought the water shooting out of the sprinkler suited the theme although it looks like a couple of the holes may blocked on a couple of them.

Week 20 - Light & Dark

After the hard work of watering the lawn, I treated myself to a Magnum, dark on the outside and light on the inside!

Week 21 - Figures

This was an idea that my wife had and so I have robbed it for myself too, plus it only required me to stand up from my computer to take this picture (lazy or efficient?)

They both work.

I rather like the forest shot, I'm a sucker for a path, and you have cleverly been able to find a distinctive tree to position at the end of the path - good work!

Good shots Simon, they both suit the theme well.

Good shots there, think the light and dark and forest shot are the ones for me. Lovely having a forest in the garden;) :)

Very much out of my comfort zone with Street photography, I wanted to try and get a picture with people being as natural as possible. I ended up walking past what I thought would be interesting groups of people and taking sneaky shots with my phone in hand, but dropped at my side. This was the best of a bad bunch, and with a bit of tweaking gave this result.

Week 25

I misread snappers choice as snackers choice, so it only seems fitting to have a picture of one of my many favorite snacks! Taken with a macro lens freehand, I thought I did quite well to not give into temptation and eat them all.

Week 26

Popped into Liverpool at the weekend to see a show, which was a good opportunity to grab the transport picture. I had thought a picture of Lime Street Station would fit as a major transport hub. I also saw not one but five buses approaching in front of St Georges Hall, which speaks to me as a bit closer to the theme, and plus it also looks like the bus is waving as I zoomed in!

Just had to retype this as I hit back by mistake! :headbang:

I took a quick cycle ride through the woods and beach this morning before the heat wave kicks in. I took my camera and drone with me, but I unfortunately forgot to swap out my macro lens for the normal one! Thankfully, my phone did a pretty good job of the beach, and my drone did the rest. It was quite nice to have the deserted beach to myself, very peaceful.

I wanted to do something slightly different for the portrait picture and I found a definition for portrait photography which I suits the shot I took:

'Portrait photography aims to capture the identity, personality, and essence of a subject with composition, lighting, and posing'

So this is my excuse for not taking a straight-on picture of myself or anyone else. I think it captures my love for exploring and enjoying the outdoors and the lighting worked nicely to create a long shadow too.

A nice set!

Deserted - lovely. I want to start walking. Not sure we need all that sky though.

Portrait - love it! Really different, and you certainly achieved your objective. Impressed!

Great set Simon. Wish I could find a local beach like that, that wasn't all muddy up with footprints.

Your portrait shot is a really creative shot. Great idea to use the low morning light to get that long dramatic shadow as a counterpoint to the line of your footprints.
