The TP 52 - 2025 SimonB - 52 for 2025 - Week 52 - Done and all caught up!

The reflection is great - lovely portrait.

Cat and dog shots are the best! This is a really good image and a great take on the theme.

Oh yes - kitty shot kitty shot!!!

Nice portrait of a cat doing its favorite things, being nosy and "watching"

Lovely pic for the week, and I definitely agree she was keeping an eye on you more than looking outside!

A nice portrait of your cat, and a good take on the theme.

I agree with you the reflection really makes the picture

A lovely cat portrait Simon.

Really like that you managed a side and front on portrait using the reflection, great use of the glass.

The reflection looks like an evil cat and scary

Beautiful shot of the cat :)

Lovely pic for the week, and I definitely agree she was keeping an eye on you more than looking outside!

Thanks for all the comments everyone! :)

It was an unseasonably warm day yesterday, so the wife and I fancied a walk (via the bakery!) and that's when I noticed my wife yet again being a rebel and I thought this would tick the box for this week's theme.

I got two sausage rolls and then a nice cold pint at the end of the walk, well worth it!

Naughty Girl!

Nicely caught!

Definitely ticks the box, I like the repeating red colours

Quite a tricky theme for me this week, managed to find this picture I took last week after the theme was announced. It's probably a very loose fit for the theme but I'm out of ideas! This was taken at the pub on the Liverpool Leeds canal after taking my bike out for the first time in a while. I discovered that I was not as fit as I once was and nearly ended up horizontal on the muddy paths ha!

I like your Horizontal shot - I don't think it is a loose fit at all, that water is certainly horizontal in two directions. Glad you converted it to B&W.

I think you were quite brave to ride along a muddy towpath. I haven't done it for a few years, but I remember one time is was sliding sideways on sloping mud; next stop would have been the water. Luckily I was able to keep moving forward and hit some more solid ground.

Definitely a mahoosive shoehorn in my book. Nice mono though :)

Nearly ran out of time to complete this week's theme, I had to ponder for a while what would make an interesting pattern picture. I decided in the end to take a macro picture of my wife's engagement ring. I have been trying to improve my macro photography over the years, and I have discovered that a tripod and plenty of light helps. I am also working on focus stacking too, this is a stack of three pictures.

The very thing that caught my eye when selecting this ring was the pattern of diamonds clustered together, I used a small touch to help make them pop. I still think there is room for improvement here and there, perhaps using a real flower instead of a fake would add a bit more authenticity to the shot.

Any comments/critique are always welcome.

Very haughty looking cat.

I think you chose the best one. The expression makes it for me

That is the perfect way to describe him!

Three good shots of you cats what's he wearing around his neck?

Ah it is a GPS tracker. He has a tendency to wander quite far and be home late on occasion. This just gives us a bit of peace of mind.

Yep, best one chosen. That light is good.

Thanks very much, I was lucky he stopped there when he saw something.

Catching up - going back to the lego(?) motorbike silhouette - would a spray from a can of deoderant done the trick?

Horizontal theme reakly strong in mono I think, a lovely set of cat shots and a very sparkly ring - I don't have a clue about focus stacking but the right hand side of the ring seems a bit soft and there might be a way to sharpen it up? I also wondered if you'd get more definition with more diffused light? Really strong image overall though, I really like the contrast to the black background!

All three are strong images Simon, I would have had a hard time choosing between them.

Yep its a lego model, I hadn't thought of that I shall try and remember that for next time. Thanks for the feedback, always helpful :)

Ah, I had started to fall behind again. As the sun finally decided to make an appearance, I started to crack on with jobs in the garden. I was out of ideas for broken last week, and unfortunately, someone seems to have had an accident. They drove into a wall, and it looks like they hit the tree as well. I hope no one was hurt, but the wall is very, very broken!

Now for week 13 Texture, it was a bit of a spur of the moment as I was gathering some wood from the log store and spotted this wasp sunning itself. I thought it would be another good opportunity to try the macro lens again. I have struggled to select my preferred one of out the two, but I like the straight-on shot as it highlights the texture of the wood and the wasp itself. Ideally, I would have liked the hair its back to be in focus too but by this point I had taken an awful lot of pictures of it. The second picture while I like it a lot didn't feel very unique but perhaps fitted the theme better?

Anyhow I'm up to date...for now.

Very on theme for Broken. I think maybe more textures are on show in the first wasp picture, though they're both cracking shots!

Oh dear, it's definitely broken - hope they're ok!
Amazing wasp pics, maybe the 1st is best for showing texture but your chosen pic is excellent

That's one broken wall, time for someone to roll up their sleeves and set to work!
Really good macros Simon.

A very good catch up. What was that driver thinking?

Defo broken!

As for Waspy - good shots!
