I'm looking for a SIM only deal for internet on new IPAD...What would you recomend?

Which deal are you using at the moment and would you change if not tied in ?

Get a GiffGaff data plan

500MB = £5 a month

1GB = £7.50 a month

3GB = £12.50 a month

has to be 3 for data coverage

Agreed. Their coverage for me has been better than O2 and is only £7.50 for 1gb on a monthly rolling contract. In fact on the recent skomer trip O2 had no signal and 3 quite often had decent 3g!

Ovivo paygo
£5 to buy sim
1 gig a month
no top ups required !!!
uses Vodafone network
i.e £ZERO per month !!
FREE INTERNET ON THE GO for only a little advertising
or they have a calls inclusive deal with 500 meg a month

Another vote for "3" - great value and good coverage

T-Mobile, Sim costs £10 and then you get 12 months data for free.

Check coverage in your area, up here the O2 network seems to beat all the others for coverage. I've (just 2 days ago) got a Giffgaff sim on a rolling 3gb per month, I was on O2 so no network change for me but the monthly cost has halved.
The giffgaff sim comes suitable for normal phones and the iPad/phone micro sim.

Thank you all for the info...

I had a look at OVIVO and ordered a free SIM..

What is the packge that T-mobile are doing ?

I buy Three 3GB sim cards from amazon, 4 x 3GB cards at £11.75 each and 1 x Micro Sim Cutter, all in all gives me 12 months access for £53. Bargain!!

Just thought I would add, I also ordered an Ovivo sim and it does seem to work exactly as advertised.

£5 initial top up is still unused, 200 minutes and texts allowance received free as well as 500mb data. Runs on Voda and unlike the useless (non-existant) CS of GiffGaff has very good CS available on the phone. Out of allowance costs very good as well, 6p per min/text/MB.

Exactly what I got.

Three has excellent data coverage - far better, in my experience, than O2 or Voafone.

It depends where you live. Round here 3 is terrible and O2 is best.

That's a cracking offer. How long has this been running for?
Anyone got one and actually use it? Says you have to register same day each month to get free allowance, so what happens if you miss a month does the offer expire?

It's only been available for a few months, I have got one and running it alongside my contract sim for now. It runs on Voda and has given no problems yet, I do have more faith in then than GiffGaff as they actually have live Customer service (in England) available on a phone line.

You need a smartphone or tablet so they can send the occasional ad when browsing.

You don't need to top up monthly, the free allowance is just added every month on the anniversary of when you activated your sim.

Thanks

Do you have to do anything at the date of every month on the anniversary of when you activated sim?

How did you come across this or where is it advertised as not seen it before

You don't have to do anything, it just allocates the allowance.

It was a word of mouth type thing, a friend has a phone shop and mentioned it in posting. It's been discussed on plenty of forums as well.

This is what the app looks like where you can check your allowances. As you can see, its just reset the allowance.

Thanks
So in theory for just a starter £5 you could run a payg sim forever with allowance and not spend anything else on top?

Yes, that's the theory. The only thing they ask is that you watch the ads they periodically redirect you to while browsing. I haven't browsed much yet, but other users report an ad every 15 minutes or so while browsing.
