Hi,
Hope to go to British GP this year :).
Have not been to Silverstone before.
Where are the best places for taking photos?
I have 40D with 100-400IS lens and 300 f2.8.
 
Will be a great event like usual!! Will be quite busy.

It really depends on what track they are using, the new GP layout or the "classic" GP circuit.

For the "classic" circuit, it will be without media accreditation, they are:

Under each info about corner, will be a photo of mine from that spot.

Beckett's inside, ( if you can get across into the center ) I got their last year, but they had fenced off the usual panning spot, for some reason :/

Stowe outside, and inside for panning, some cars may spark if they run wide enough round their.

Vale corner, from the end of the fencing, with a 400mm, may be able to get some good head on shots, with a little bit of cropping when they are uploaded.

Club outside, and inside, "inside has great panning vantage points, with a 400mm will be long enough. " outside, a 400mm will be long enough, a higher pov but still great for angles.

Abbey corner, into the braking area, you can get decent panning from a slightly higher pov, and with the GP2's they will be glowing brake disks and flaming at the same time.
More into the corner at abbey, you are lower down and can get them bouncing off the kerbs and its a good place for action.

Farm inside ( if you can get across into the centre ) a capture from "this years Gp" soon to be last years :)

Luffield corner, good panning, and action zone, a 400mm will be long enough.

they are most of the hot spots for the circuit.

Can I just say fair play, cracking post above. Well done and thanks again.
 
Can you get anywhere inside on the circuit these days. I went a couple of years back and it was all hospitality or fenced off. There was nowhere to shoot at all.
