Sorry to be dim, but here goes...

Having just got the desktop machine up and running again I've now got the laptop on the desk next to it getting ready to transfer my photo files from the past few weeks over. Looking at the two screens next to one another they are showing totally different colours. When I go into control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Colour Management - what SHOULD my colour profile be set as? At the moment there's not one set.......on either machine.

Any ideas? I know you have to work to a certain colour setup to get the best out of photobox.

Well, there is several threads around the place about this, but for a starting point as your profiles boxes are empty at the moment, try this. Click the Add button and you should get a Add Profile Association box come up with (hopefully) several profiles in it. Select the sRGB Color Space Profile and click Add. This will at least give you a know(ish) standard on each monitor. No guarantees here that they will be the same though, but they should be fairly close.

After that it's either down to using a software profiling tool like Adobe Gamma or (the better solution) a hardware device such as Spyder 2. Ohh no, another addition to the wish list :D

cheers for that - I had previously used Adobe Gamma on the monitor for the desktop but must admit couldn't work out how to alter the screen settings on the lappy......! I'm sure it's straightforward....if you know how!
