I was having a mooch in Currys today and spotted their Sandisk CF cards. I choked when I saw they were £70! I pointed out that I had just bought one cheaper online and got the usual "Ah but you don't get the service and don't know what you are buying online" crap they usually come up with.
You should have seen the look on his face when I told him I got the exact same card (4Gig Extreme III) for £17.99. He really didn't have an answer to that. :D
Bloody rip off merchants!

i got all mine for that price too from 7 day shop..

The trouble is that people PAY those prices!! mad!!

While in Jessops on Sunday a guy walked in and enquired the price of a basic 1gb SD card, £15.

I had to physically restrain myself from telling him he could have a couple of 2gb cards delivered to his door and still have a couple of pints off the change.

Where from? I need some memory cards to take with me to India.

As Fraggle said, 7dayshop. Thats where I got mine too. Not the fastest turnaround but thats cos they dont charge silly money for postage either. Seems pretty good for batteries n stuff too.

Be aware that transferring files from the cheaper cards may take three times as long as an Extreme III or other 133x card.

I get mine from play.com or mymemory.co.uk which ever is cheaper at the time. Also the aftersales service is actually better than a lot of high street stores in my experience and the information given online is more than the shop staff seem to know! Having had to explain to a jessops sale assitant the difference between a front and rear lens cap!

People don't go into Currys et. al. to buy memory cards. The prices are bumped because they're "Oh, and you'll need one of these too..." items, that people buying new cameras etc. don't think to budget for because they were unaware they needed them. Same with batteries, cables and extended warranties, fodder for the gullible.

I always check out www.thehut.com (thats the HUT!!) for any memory they have mega deals and resonable delivery about 3/4 days quite often really cheap Kingston stuff.
Obviously shop around though because there is always someone cheaper but how cheap do you want it?
I always work on how much I am prepared to pay and if I've had good customer service.

I hate it when they say, "I actually have one of these, myself." Funny how they'll say it about everything; how bloody big is their house?!

When I bought my 400D from jessops, they asked me if I wanted a CF card as well and was told they will give me discount, £60 for a 2GB Sandisk2 less £20 discount so I said yes!

After I opened, tried, checked everything, I said I will need a 4GB and went online and was shocked that I can get a 4GB Extreme III with the same amount I paid jessops (CF's were still a bit high priced a year ago).

back to topic, amazon is selling 4GB Extreme III for £16.99 delivered a.t.m.!

Another vote for 7day shop here, I've just ordered 3 x 4gb ULTRA II's SDHC's priced at £12.49 each, can't go wrong at that price.
