hmmm, now i have no idea if i know what the problem is or indeed what the solution is, it seems a flippin tricky one to me though ! i will have to investigate and see if i can come up with a resolution ! :)

I think that you just need to be a bit verbose in your reply. For example, this reply is short
 
... whereas this reply I'm being a bit obtuse and replying with an unnecessary amount of words that doesn't really clear up what I'm talking about but does go to provide a longer answer than the previous one that is quite frankly not long enough to trigger the signature.

Of course I could be completely wrong but I'll only be able to tell that when I attempt to post this response.

What I'm wondering is, that if I'm correct then why would you want your sig included if you do a longer response. Is it to shorten the quick conversations that sometimes happens on these threads?
