Yes
Not sure if this is the correct place and I know they are generally pointless.

Can anyone help or guide me in making a signature watermark to add to my pics ?

Just something subtle to drop in a corner.

It is quite easy... first you need to locate a signature typeface (plenty on the internet and you don't want to use your real signature).

If using PhotoShop simply create a document with a transparent background design you logo/watermark and make it quite large too, then simply save as a png file which will maintain the transparency.... Make one with black text and another with white. you can the simply add the watermark as another layer, resize it and alter the opacity to suit.

Have a look on YouTube for tutorials on making a text logo in Photoshop. Doesn't take too long once you've got the hang of it, mine took about ten minutes in total to make. Save as a .png and then create a watermark in Lightroom to add to your photos on export. I have a couple of different versions of mine depending on where the photo is going to be posted

I’ve found the best way is to make up a brush or several in PS then add it/them to your finished snap on a seperate layer at whatever position/opacity/colour/blending mode/ size etc you want. When your happy with the result flatten the layers and then “Hey” Job Done.(y)

George.

I'm the same as George - make a brush!
Open a 'new document' in photoshop & chose a transparent background, use text to create what you want, then click on 'edit' on the toolbar at the top, go down to 'define brush preset' and there it is!
You can change size, colour, opacity etc exactly the same way you do for a normal brush - easy peasy! :-)

Best thing I could say is to use a font/style that is legible if you are using it for your brand. Lots of many of the ones that are seen you cannot even read them.

Thanks all, if I use the brush technique I assume that can only be added in photoshop ?
I don’t really use ps much, although I could edit in lightroom, move to ps then back, but I was hoping for something I could set in Lr export to save manually putting on every time ?

Not sure if I've missed something, but if you're using Lightroom Export anyway, what's wrong with the option built into the Lightroom export settings?

All you need is a .png file with a transparent background, you can define a brush for use in PS or define the .png as a watermark in LR, you get the best of both worlds. :)

Maybe he is trying to make something a bit more personal and unique. Once he has done that he can use LR to place it on his images.

I was looking for a custom watermark, I could be wrong but think Lr only offers font type and I’ve not found any I like.

So in theory, make the watermark in PS, save as a brush thingy, then export the doc/design as a png to import into lightroom ?

Yes, Lightroom lets you add a custom .png image that you can use as standard when exporting.

Yes, that’s what I want to use, but I wanted help creating a custom signature type thing.

Yes sir indeed it is.

Sorry I did read it but again thought it was for PS only, now I see what’s required.

Thanks

The best video I've seen was by Dr Russell Brown (photoshop guru) it was called digital branding (some years back) in that he made an action that placed a custom shape/path into the image. Sadly the video doesn't seem to be on his site anymore. Dont know if it's on the web anywhere else.

There's a lot of good advice here, plenty of ways to do it. I downloaded a lot of script style fonts and created a PNG from the one I liked the most. You can then create an action in PS to overlay the signature to an image, which can also place, resize and flatten the final result so you can export to web. As said, lots of ways to do it!
