as some who read some of my ramblings will know a month ago I noticed problems with my sigma 150-600 sport ,intermittent but I thought I had better send it off for a check over before the 3 year warranty ran out ,which I did they found a problem with the resolution and informed me that it had to go back to Japan and could take up to 8 weeks to return . I was not at that time a happy bunny . fast forward to today. exactly 4 weeks after sending it in ...
update on my sigma 150-600 sport .. the lens arrived back this afternoon, exactly 3 years to the day since I bought it . all the paperwork said was resolution corrected ..... on taking it out of the case I can only say that as far as I can see its a totally brand new one the body is unmarked all the switches and lock are stiff and solid the glass is unmarked . I have plugged it into the usb dock/hub and its come up as not tuned .your guess is as good as mine .and I also get a extra 6 months warranty on it .... second time this month I have had way above superior service from sigma imaging .... very very impressed indeed.and totally free of charge being under warranty .

on top of this a sigma 150mm o.s that I bought very cheaply on e/bay as spares or repairs basically came back the other day with a new a/f motor ,a new image stabiliser and a new outer barrel again looking and working like a brand new lens and all for a couple of quid over £100 .

after reading some of the horror stories and repair prices from other manufacturers I can only heap praise on sigma and there service team

did the serial numbers stay the same. That should tell you if it is a replacement or not

Always good to hear of good service from a manufacturer, gives confidence for future purchases.

Fantastic news. Always great to hear these stories.

When the Pentax K-1 full frame was first released a couple of years ago it was found that the mount on the newer Sigma lenses caused a small scratch to the body where it attached. Sigma offered anyone who had any of these lenses a free mount change plus any affected camera body would be sent back to Pentax for a new body part. I had 3 of the lenses (all purchased used) but didn't bother as I had a different camera at the time.

Roll on 18 months and I bought a used K-1 which was described as "in excellent condition" ... it turned out though that the sellers definition of excellent was totally different to mine and one of the problems was that he had mounted one of these unmodified Sigma lenses to the body causing this scratch. To cut a long story short Sigma changed the mount on all 3 lenses (24-70mm f2.8, 85mm f1.4, 70-200mm f2.8) and had the body repaired .... all it cost was the price of the postage to them.

the serial number is the same ,BUT and its a very big BUT that is one of the parts of the lens that looks totally new ,they must have the means at the factory to install a identical set of numbers ? .being retired I am out virtually every day with the camera and lens hardly a day goes by when its not in use .so its had 3 years of real hard use rolling around either in the car or in the boot or banged around in a hide .to get it back in pristine condition has awed me .and as I keep saying it looks brand new . .anyway pleased for now just need some decent weather to get out and play

A couple of years back I bought a Sigma 120-400mm lens that was faulty and had the aperture blades stuck wide open but I got it at such a good price that it was worth having Sigma repair it.
On sending it in to sigma they said that it looked almost certainly like the lens had been put down on a hard surface, mount end first with no cap on hence damaging the aperture lever.
However as a good will gesture they repaired it free of charge and also returned it to me free of charge. Now that's not something you'd get from every manufacturer and top marks to Sigma.

Totally agree, I've had nothing but excellent service from the team at Sigma UK, on both occassions sorting a mount upgrade and firmware check update / upgrad while I waited.

Very ighly recommended.

Chris

Unfortunately I didn't it took 5 weeks to replace a lens mount.

if they don't have the parts in stock ,then they have to order from Japan as with my 150mm macro they had to order a new body for it ,unfortunately the first one arrived damaged so I had to wait another week for the replacement .could have been something along those lines .and from talking to them on the phone I think u.k delivery only arrive every weds

I didn't hold it against them as I'm using a 150-600c and it' great.

Ive has a couple of dealings with them and nothing but fantatsic service.

just to echo the above. I actually work close to their UK HQ and on a couple of occasions they had addressed issues while i waited in my lunch hour :)

I have used them once and had great service. I spoke to them about the issue over the phone and had a sensible discussion about the possible causes rather than the scripted answers you get from some companies. They agreed to investigate, found a fault and repaired the lens.

That’s good to know. Especially with their new lenses being very popular just now.
