Sigma OS system

Take two photos at 1/5s (ish) , with & without it on.

Compare the shots & you should see a difference :)

if not .... :(

Is the 150 a fairly recent sigma lens ? I have the 150-600 and you cannot see the stabiliser working (though it does) but in a older sigma 150-500 I used to own it was quiet noticeable ,the point I'm making is technology has moved on at a fast pace and the latest models behave differently to expectations .as has Been said already hand hold it at a low shutter speed you will soon know

I've never visibly noticed it in the viewfinder of my 70-200. Results can easily be seen in the images though.

What camera are you using it on?
My Sigma 70-200 the OS was clearly visible in the viewfinder on my old D7100 but wouldn't work properly on my D7200 because Nikon changed the algorithm and rendered the Sigma next to useless. I sent it to Sigma for a firmware upgrade which they did under warranty and now it's perfect and the OS effect is visible in the viewfinder again.
This is why Sigma are now using their dock so you can upgrade firmware yourself.

I am using it on a Canon (have tested on a 7D and an eos M). I just did some more tests and to get usable images I am needing to shot at 1/80th and faster and need to go to faster to get really sharp images. I can do just as well with the OS off (there might be a tiny effect but I might be imagining it, at best 1 stop).

I just tested my 100L IS macro at the same time and I can get usable results at 1/4th and it is very sharp by 1/15th. I cannot get near that with the IS turned off. Will be sending the Sigma back tomorrow :(

think the sigma os activates with half shutter press and needs a moment

Can you get hold of something older like a 450D to test it on?
Sounds like it might be the firmware in the lens - manufacturers don't release the lens data algorithms so third party manufacturers like Sigma and Tamron have to reverse engineer their lenses to make them as compatible as they can. Trouble is when it gets updated on newer bodies it makes some lenses non compatible.

FWIW I have the 105mm OS and you can see it in the VF and hear it activate when you half press the shutter (or BBF) and it's very effective.

How'd you get on in the end with this? Did you return it or get it replaced?
