Sigma Master, Canon Slave?

I'm getting a 430ex for my birthday next week, and am looking to get an inexpensive master flash.

The Sigma EF-500 DG ST seems to get OK reviews.

So does anyone know if teh Sigma will talk to the Canon wirelessly ?

AFAIK the ST version cannot be used as either a master or a slave in a wireless set up, but the Super version can, but you'd need to doublecheck as Canon stuff is a mystery to me at the best of times

I don't think the 430 can be used as a master. Ideally you need the 580ex to act as master. You could always try using a set of flash radio triggers but bear in mind you would loose TTL
