Hi

I am going to be a bit cheeky now

Could someone take a look at the nikon fit sigma 150-500mm telephoto lens on Panamoz price £598.00
I am a bit confused as in the specifications it states teleconverters what does that mean, are they a seperat part or are they part of the lens.

will I need anything else for it to fit my Nikon D40

It just seems a good price.

Will it fit?

Sorry to be cheeky but it is alot of money for me and I don't want to waste it

regards
Bob

It will fit your camera as it is. Tele converters can be added at a later time to increase your focal range. A 1.4 Tele converter would make this lens a 210-700 if you needed extra reach in future. I am ordering this sigma lens in the next week or 2 as well. I have used panamoz once before with no problems too.

Thanks Phil

What does 1.4MF @ 2xMF mean in the specifications I was thinking it meant Manual focus.
so why is that in the specification.

Bob

Because you lose 1 stop for a 1.4 convertor and 2 stops for a 2x both will take the lens out of the range that the camera will auto focus. So although they will work (focus confirmation and exposure) you wont have auto focus, hence the mf.

So does that mean it won't autofocus at all

It AF's perfectly well without a TC on. I took mine to a wildlife park yesterday and took over 800 photos with it on my Canon 5D3. It's an excellent lens, gives you great IQ and a good AF speed and the OS system is excellent. It's heavy, but after a couple of months you'll be used to it and using it handheld all day. I bought mine from Panamoz in january and have just got a Canon 60D from them today. Great lens, great supplier and a great price, you can't go wrong.

The 150-500 is a great lens, and manual focusing with TC's isn't that hard, just need to keep it steady. Taken with a 1.4 TC on the 150-500
