Sigma 135-400mm f/4.5-5.6 APO lens for Canon SLR

It's okay, not as good as the Siggy 50-500 IQ wise but I'd say around as good as the Sigma 170-500 or a tad better with a good copy.

I've tested 50-500mm one day and it was just a mere shadow of Canon 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 USM, I won't even mention 70-200mm f/4L. 50-500mm goes 'only' to ~400mm in reality (except close-ups?)

Make it simple and get 300mm prime with any converters you may need.

Have you thought about the Sigma 100-300 f4 ex dg

I had one for a Nikon & a cracking lens - but not sure what the Canon versions like thou... Ideal with a Sigma 1.4x TC mine was....

i have had a few 170-500mm lenses and there great, also have a 50-500mm os at the mo which is top. have you thought about the 150-500mm.

I think i will have to have a serious talk to the other half or give up my golf.
Thanks for everyones input to this thread.

I've seen some good write ups on the Siggy 120mm-400mm, compares very favourably with the Canon 100mm-400mm L re IQ at about half the price. Currently retails at £640.
