Hello, we dont know if we are in the right place but here goes. We have been reading about Sigma lens, cause we are after the 50-500 and a lot of talk is about "import" ones! Our question is: How can you tell if its an import or not? Sorry if this has been covered before, but new to forum and cant find it! Nancy & Shane.

I'd just ask at the point of sale if its a UK market lens and if it comes with the 3 year UK warranty.

I'm pretty sure CameraPriceBuster's list does not have any grey import vendors on it.

Thanks for the reply. We are looking to buy a second hand one (cost). So was hoping that there was a way of telling. But once again, thanks for taking the time to reply.

If you are buying secondhand, does it matter, as long as it works.

There is a reason, so yes it does matter, If it didn't matter to us, I wouldn't be asking the question???

Also if 2nd hand it could/prob/might even be over 3yrs old & so it wont have any warranty left on it anyway - then again Sigma wont transfer the warranty on the lens if it had...

So I take it the answer is "No there is no way of telling".

Maybe if you could source one with the original warranty card which will be stamped 'Sigma-UK'

You could email/contact Sigma.UK - if you had the serial number, then you would know for sure if it was an import or not...

I've done it before when I wasn't sure....

Thanks Trig`s. Bit dim sometimes and the last 2 ideas are obvious ! Just shows, end of nose etc.
