I have a question for you clever ones; :help:

I have a Nikon D40, and have inherited my dad's old Yashica Film SLR gear (about 30years old).

Amongst which there are some lenses that i'm quite interested in getting working on my Nikon. I understand that the AF won't work, but that's ok.

One of particular interest is a 70-230mm sigma, marked:
"Sigma-XD Macro-System Zoom 1:45 f=70mm-230mm"

...and also a wide-angle of the same fitment.

Does anyone know if i can buy an adaptor that will allow it to be fitted to my Nikon???

Cheers!
James.

Cheers!

that does help me in so far as i know that the yashica does not have a screw type fitment, and therefore it's not an M42 I guess.

This link explains some of the general issues about mouting one type of lens onto a different type of camera. It suggests that you simply cannot adapt a Yashica lens to fit on a Nikon camera, unless
(1) the adapter has optics in it, which will make it expensive and degrade the image; or
(2) you're willing to do without the ability to focus at infinity.
