The 24 also has a macro feature.

There is the 28-70 f2.8 EX DG MACRO and the 28-70 f2.8-4 EX DG. I have never used either myself so I couldnt tell you which is better, but I personally would avoid the changing max aperture.

However out of th 24-70 and the 28-70, I personally would go for the 24. The 4mm at that end is worth it. Also, Alexisonfire got one a few weeks ago iirc, and once he got a good example, it's awsome apparently. Otherwise I think the only difference on the stats sheet is that one has internal focusing, and the other doesn't (28 does)

As for IQ, I have no idea, other than what I hear from alexisonfire, in that the 24 is awsome.

Cool, thanks guys, i dont care about the macro feature, im going to eventually buy a dedicated Macro lens when the time comes, im not even that bothered by 4mm, its a tricky one!

im off to Jessops after work and will take which ever one they have in stock, if i dont like it i can take it back and change it so no probs there, there seems to be little difference between them IQ wise.

Jessops? OMG are you sure?

Unless they have an amazing special offer they are normally soo expensive.

I rang them for a price on a Canon 17-40 F4L and they wanted £479! It was over a hundred odd quid cheaper at Warehouse Express. I could have got it even cheaper from eBay if I tried a little harder.

RGB tech do a fantastic price on these lenses

I just got the 24-70 f 2.8-love it already-havnt had it 5 minutes.

Imported mine from japan from digitalrev and saved a bundle-arrived within 4 days and sigma have an international warranty and there is a office in welywyn garden city-i believe.

Spend the extra and go for the 24-70mm you won't be dissapointed with it.

I have the Sigma 24-70 F2.8 as a back up for my Canon 24-105 F4 L and it's a great lens. I used it last night on a job at a magic show, it's MAGIC.

Dont worry guys, i know Jessops are pricey but normally check out the prices in the monthly magazines and use the jessops voucher in there.

Went this morning and picked up the 24-70, its a big boy!

Am heading off to the London Transport museum in an hour or so with the Lady and will give it a good work out then!

Ah, I was about to say have a look at the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8.
