Yes
I'm not sure if this has be posted already .
There seems to be an issue with a few sigma lenses and the AF on them .
I've only found out as my new 120 - 400 comes within the problem serial numbers . I've not had any problems but i've only used it a couple of times .
I tempted to contact them to see where I stand if something happens in the future out of warrenty if I don't send it back for checking .

FYO
Auto focusing issue affects limited number of Sigma telezoom lenses

After thorough investigation, we have ascertained that some APO 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM, APO 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM and APO 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM lenses, produced recently, may have a potential autofocus defect.

This issue could possibly occur in some lenses within the following range of serial numbers:

--- APO 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM
--- Serial Numbers between 10633051 and 10972000

--- APO 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM
--- Serial Numbers between 10574001 and 10972000

--- APO 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM
--- Serial Numbers between 10674301 and 10972000

This is a limited problem that will not occur in any lenses other than those specifically listed above.

To overcome this issue, we are offering our customers an inspection and where applicable, a modification service, free of charge. In the case of any autofocus problem becoming apparent on inspection, we will rectify the situation and make every effort to minimise delay and inconvenience.

Cheers for headsup John. Mums 150-500 may be in.

Thanks

Ooopppsss I didn't see that must be getting tired . I suppose it draws some more attention to the issue though on a positive .

I know that feeling John :D

I was drawn to the thread because I just took delivery of a nice new Sigma lens this morning, luckily its not one of the affected ones

Thanks for this. My 120-400 falls within the serial numbers and I've been having a few problems with AF. Trouble is I go on holiday in 5 weeks and I don't want to risk it not being returned in time even though they claim it will take 3-4 weeks.

Guys - where is the serial on a sigma 150-500? Tried googling to no avail and it is for relatives lens.

Cheers :)

its on the bottom of the lens barrell between the mount and the foot
Mines in the range and I have had some intermittent problems that recently have become worse, anyone know excactly what the issues and cure are.
Should I risk a repair or should I return it to where I purchased it from as faulty for a full refund and try something else?
Frankly this is my first time using Sigma and I am not too impressed but I know lots of people who use sigma lenses with no issues.

This problem aside, what's the 150-500mm like? I am/was thinking about picking one up...

what is the defect meant to be like? i have the 120-400 with a serial number in that range and now and again mine hunts for no particular reason especially at the 400 end. it does it quite rarely and i havent found that i have been missing shots or anything......

what have others been told when they phoned up?
