I'm looking to add a flash to my bag so I can get a bit more creative with indoor portraits and not have to rely only on the nifty fifty wide open. I've been looking around and the Sigma EF 530 DG Super looks like alot of flash for the money, the spec sheet comes close to a Canon 580 and the price is easier on the wallet than a 430. I appreciate as with everything else in life you get what you pay for so obviously the canon will be better built etc but do people think that the Sigma will stand up to my recreational use and produce good results? Do people think Sigmas flash guns are on a par with there lenses? Any other comments or recomendations appreciated!

I've been considering buying one from Bristol Cameras http://www.bristolcameras.co.uk/p-sigma-ef-530-dg-super-flash-with-stofen-omni-bounce.htm the price and included Stofen seem good to me, has anyone got any experience with them or seen this item for a better rpice?

All the reviews regard this particular flash favourably. Powerful, lots of functions but the downside I hear the most about them is build quality, in particular around the hotshoe attachment part, which is prone to breaking...

Not sure whether it was used professionally to make that happen, but if you do get one and use it recreationally and be careful with it, you shouldn't have any problems :)

Thats pretty much what I was hoping/expecting people to say, I don't expect the flash will see a great deal of use and I'm generally pretty carefull with my stuff so this might well be the ideal solution.

I wanted something fully featured and flexible so I can experiment without too many limitations and if I get into flash photography it shouldn't limit me and would form the basis of a pretty good multi flash setup on a budget.

Anyone got any opinions on Bristol Cameras?
