Sigma EF-530 Super - wireless trigger problem

Yes
I've just bought myself an ebay trigger set for my Sigma EF-530 flashgun, and I'm experiencing some erratic behaviour with it. Currently I can only get the flash to fire when in manual slave mode (screen reads 'C1 SL' with no ETTL in the top corner). Also, when in that mode, if I set the output to 1/4 or below, the flash fires a high-speed strobe burst of four shots. Anyone else having this problem, or know of a solution?

Cheers, Chris

Ebay triggers are strictly manual only, not slave mode. In full manual mode, the flash should only fire on command from the trigger. At least, that is how it would work with a Canon flash.

Thanks for replying Hoppy. A friend has just pointed me at this - apparantly that mode is the correct mode to use to manually trigger the Sigma.

The problem I don't understand (and can't find any information about) is that a single triggering, with the flash output set to 1/4 or smaller, causes the flash to fire 4 times in quick succession. Anyone know of a workaround?

You're welcome buddy :) But in your link it says "It does not deal with how to... connect a... radio slave..."

I am not familiar with the Sigma but I think that with a radio slave trigger the gun needs to be on 100% manual. I would also disable the built-in optical slave.

I took that to mean that the author assumed you knew how to physically connect it...:suspect:

I've just tried it in standard Manual mode, and no joy. The only mode where it will fire is in the mode described in that article, at which point it fires fine, apart from this rapid-fire business...

Sigma flashes are notorious for not working with any of the so-called "Ebay" triggers, I've put a warning to that effect on my listing in the sales forum.

Cactus have a V2S set that is apparantly compatible with the Sigma.

I've got mines working via wireless and the onboard flash:gag:

Mines also does the 4 rapid flash, but only if I hit the AEL button on the A700?
