Hi all,

I'm enjoying my DP2M and love the image quality, however, one area I am struggling with is highlight recovery. As the camera is not supported by Aperture or Lightroom, I'm using SPP. It seems to me that it doesn't have any tools to recover lost highlight detail. Is this really the case? It seems to me you have to reduce overall exposure and have a dark image or add too much fill light to try to compensate which doesn't really work for that, although it is a great tool in its own right.

Seems a glaring omission as many of my images benefit from a slight recovery tweak and I find that although the majority of the image is great, I feel I'd have better highlights from any camera supported by standard RAW convertors.

What do you all do?

Thanks
Steve

I usually use the 'X3 Fill Light' and balance that by reducing 'Exposure' if necessary and then export to TIFF - and then use Lightroom if doing anything more.

Thanks, I am using x3 fill but that only seems to lighten shadows, I want to darken highlights. My workflow is as yours Dryce. I guess what I'd like just doesn't exist.

My experience is the X3 Fill Light does recover texture and detail in skies and cloud. (Which seems to me counter-intuitive as to what I'd expect it to do had I not tried it).

you could try "auto" mode in the bulk conversion, rescued some of my dads pics which surprised me alot
