Sigma DP-1

I recently won £500 on a photographic competition and decided to treat myself to a Sigma DP-1.

For those who haven't heard of it, it is the first compact camera with a DSLR sized sensor. It uses the same foveon sensor as the Sigma DSLRs.

It has had varied reviews and it is quite a bizarre camera. Initially it was dissapointing with shocking control and it feels really dated, but it does produce images which I could not achive with any other compact I've tried.

Here is a couple of test shots, not the best composition but...

Flowers are blown but its lovely, the hot whites do not put me off at all, wierd.

I tell you what, for all it's limitations and problems. I love using this camera, it has fixed lens, odd controls, rubbish screen, Raw files not supported by LR or ACR, an external view finder which costs an extra £50 and really some awkward controls.

But it I love it.
