What's the difference between "DG for digital" and "DC for digital"??

Seems the photography industry is just as fond of these silly acronyms as network technologists

and while I'm here..

APO? EX? ASP?

What does the second number mean in.. "F3.5 - 6.3"??

Ta.

DG means coatings on the lens that hel with digital sensors. They can still be used on film no problems.

DC means the image circle is smaller and so will only fit a camera with an APS-C sized sensor - like most DSLRs.

APO - means apochromatic glass - helps chromatic abberation (purple fringing)

EX - higher build quality. Kinda like a 'pro' seal.

Lenses with two apertures quoted mean that at the wide end you have one maximum aperture, and at the long end you have a smaller maximum aperture. This occurs mostly on lower-end zooms.

HTH.

Bah, beaten to the punch! :)
