Simply put, all the dedicated macro lenses are great ... unless you get a bad copy of one :shrug:.
So, decide on what you're going to shoot and see if the focal length is ideal for that subject ..... and based on that buy which ever brand / focal length that you fancy. You simply can't go wrong with any
Works fine for me - I've shot with pretty much every Nikon fit macro going, images below shot on a range of cameras, Nikon D100, Fuji S5 Pro and D60 (where its manual focus only)
As has been demonstrated, this is an excellent lens. However, for bugs I would suggest something longer than 70mm. The 150mm is ideal for this type of subject as it will allow you to be a bit further away and still get good magnification.
i use the sigma 105 macro which is great for all round macro work.my only concern with the longer focal length versions is that they become quite heavy for hand held shots...try before you buy i guess.
