I'm about to buy a tele-zoom for my recently acquired Nikon D40. I want to shoot motorsport and some wildlife. I'm not sure which of these to choose. Is the Nikon worth the extra and just how useful is the VR feature? HAs anyone any experience of these two lenses?

I have the Sigma and it's not bad for the money, in fact, you can see my review here:

However, if you want it to be able to automatically focus while mounted on the D40, you'd need a version with an internal AF motor.
