sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG Macro II and converter

Hi,

I have the sigma 70-200 II DG and wanted to get a 2x converter for surf photography. Will this work with the canon ex II model, or should I just get thje sigma dg ex model? Also any reports on the quality?

i found the sigma 2x teleconverter to be absolutely terrible for quality with this lens, however the 1.4x is fine.
