Hi,

I appear to have a problem with my newly purchased sigma EF-610 DG ST flash.
I am unable to get it to work using the wireless function.
I am also using a Canon 60D.

If anybody out there can help, that would be great.

Thanks

anyone!!!!!!!

A year later, I'm not going to be of any help here but the issue you're experiencing just supports my suspicions that 3rd party flashes will not work on my 60D.

OEM it is, then. :(

I don't know why you'd think that?

There's loads of 3rd party flashes that'll play happily with your camera, what do you want to achieve? what's your budget?

The problem with the OP's question is that he hasn't given much info about his actual problem, and it's very specific to a flashgun that's not so popular (sorry:sorry:)

Thanks, Phil. I've been reading that "most" 3rd party flashes won't be compatible with the features offered by the Canon 60D. I'm very new to the DSLR arena, so you'll forgive me for not knowing all the features and trickery possible from an OEM flash. However, I don't want to get a 3rd party flash only to find the features I've paid for on the camera can't be used because of the 3rd party flash.

Budget wise, I've not really settled on a figure but I'd like to spend under £100. I've been looking at some used 430EX ii flashes, but even they exceed this figure by some margin.

Happy to consider 3rd party if I know they're up to the job of the OEM.

Edit: Taken from DPReview "The EOS 60D's hot-shoe can be used with Canon and third party flashes (although sync only on most third party units), and is E-TTL II compatible"

That's a bit of a broad statement, which whilst true, means b****r all.

'Most' 3rd party flash guns aren't ETTL compatible. That's a fact, but it's as useful a fact as 'tomatoes are fruit' or 'most people are female'.

So you just have to buy an ETTL compatible flash, and if you want fruit with cream, buy strawberries rather than tomatoes, and if you want to meet men, go to a pub, there's loads of 'em.

Yongnuo YN565 is less than £100 or the YN568 for just over £100, both are fully ETTL II compatible, the 565 has an external battery socket for improved recycling times, the 568 is high speed sync compatible. Both available from Amazon or the auction site.

Point taken - I think. Will take a look at the suggested options.
Provided they're ETTL compatible and will allow me to use it wirelessly, I suspect it'll do the job.
