Just got my new 530 DG Super delivered this morning. And guess what???

Another Stigma NIGHTMARE:thumbsdown:!

When I mount it on the hotshoe, it continuously zooms in and out, then stops when it wants to. Camera does not recognise the flash either. Pics are very over exposed.

A quick google revealed this flash to be not compatible with EOS 50D, 7D and other new EOS cameras:gag::gag::gag:.

I've also learned it can be sent back to sigma to be re-chipped:bang:.

DO I return it to kerso or have it rechipped?

Are the batteries def good? Mine only malfunctioned when the batteries were fubar

I'd return it to the supplier initially if you have to.

Where and when did you buy your 530?

Yeah the batteries are newly charged and work with my 580EX II.
I think I'll return it and just buy second hand.

Cheers, I've seen that page this morning. My box didn't have the sticker. It must be old stock as I bought it from kerso's clearance list:bonk:.

No problem. While we're on the subject of Sigma flashes, do you happen to know if the Sigma 530 Super can wirelessly trigger a Canon 430EX? I've heard some say you can, others that you can't.

Give Sigma service a ring on 01707 329 999 and tell them what you have and what te problem is, I've always found them to be very helpful.

Yes. Super = Master in Sigma parlance

Agree. Sigma is a good gun and if you're happy with the deal, I'd keep it.

Kerso will look after you. Let him know, but prolly return it to Sigma for re-chipping. They are well used to doing it and offer a good service by all accounts.

Good to know, thanks. I'd heard some talk about there being problems with compatibility between the systems, so I thought I'd check.

I have sent the flash to Sigma for re-chipping. And Kerso has agreed to pay for the postage instead of me returning the flash for a refund!
Great service Ian!
Thank you!!!!

That's good to hear

No problem Richie, I appreciate your order and am glad you managed to find an answer to problem. Regards Ian.

Ian, I rang Sigma today just to confirm that they received the flash, they did, but they said they've sent me an invoice and I need to pay £79.99. Reason is they know the flash didn't come from them so they refused to repair under warranty.

They asked if I can provide a receipt with your VAT numebr on it, and also your evidence that you paid VAT on it then they'll do it for free.

Please advise...

Just to update and close the thread, I sne tthe flash back to Ian for refund and bought a 430EX II from him...

Thanks Ian
