Sigma 50mm Macro f/2.8 - Autofocus Problem

All,

Just dug out my Sigma 50mm Macro and it won't Autofocus on any of the bodies I've got.

It tries briefly but doesn't drive the focus ring more that 1/4 of a rotation if that. Even if I manually focus and then switch to Auto it won't focus lock on either One Shot or AI Servo.

Any thoughts before I contact Sigma UK?

Neil,

Should have said, it worked fine on all my Canon bodies previously. I've just tried it on the 1DS and 1D Mk II to check it wasn't a fault with the body and both work fine with other lenses... but not the 50mm Macro...

Have you had a go at cleaning the contacts?:shrug:

I had a similar problem with a lens and this worked for me...

I'll have a go, they look ok but you never know... Thanks for the suggestion.

Tried cleaning them but it still doesn't work I'm afraid, so open to other suggestions please?

No knocks at all. I thought very strange as well. Guess it's back to Sigma with it to see what they say :(

Just came across this post as I am having the same issues with my Sigma 50mm 1:2.8 MACRO lens. Autofocus sounds like it wants to work, but doesn't. Was there a resolution?
