To fit a Nikon D750, has any one tried this combination or are there better lenses to do the same job, this is just over £500 used from a top used photo gear specialist shop.

The non AFS 80-400 is known to be horribly slow to AF if that makes any difference.
Persoanlly, Ive always felt that 50-500 is way to much jack of all trades tbh.

As above - new Sigma one is coming.

I had a 150-500 sigma and when I got my D750 the Optical stabilisation on the lens wouldn't work with it. I would have had to send it back to sigma to get the firmware updated. Not sure if the 50-500 is the same but just something to keep in mind.

I think if you buy the dock, you can then update yourself. I don't know if I could warrant over £1000 for a lens, for the use it would get. It would have to be used, and used good lenses aren't exactly rare from the likes of MPB and LCE, I also bare in mind that having a good camera and crap glass isn't really an option.

The dock won't work with the older models like the 50-500 and 150-150.

I had the 50-500mm OS before the 250-600mm sport I have presently and found it a very good lens for the money. In fact I took some of my favourite shots with it and IMO it was the ultimate one lens solution especially as it focuses so closely which turns it into a fairly decent quasi macro as well.

Macro (ish)
