Sigma 30mm 1.4

I never usually ask gear questions, but I'm intrigued by he 'new' 30mm.

Is the new lens just the old one in a new jacket and re-badged 'art line', or has it had an optical makeover?

If it's still the old one, is it worth buying or should I save for the 35mm on the off chance that one day I'll buy a FF camera (not even considering so yet).

Love the way the show a photo of an obviously ageing and worn MKI version. I've got a MKI and it looks much better than that one and nicer than the MKII.

Not that it should matter if the MKII is optically improved.

Thanks, like I say I don't often do gear research because I'm slow and I usually have picked up enough 'noise' about a product before I consider buying. I've been thinking about the Sigma on and off for years and just noticed it'd changed so...

I've never really been a fan of sigma lenses before getting the 35. If the 30 for DX is near as good, then it'll be a cracker. Sigma have upped their game considerably with their new line up by all accounts. I also now have their 150mm OS macro, not a new lens as such, but it's as good, only better because of the focal length, as the Nikon 105.

The Sigma 50 and 85mm f1.4's stand comparison with Canon/Nikon lenses very well.

I owned a 30mm f1.4 and the only bad thing about it was that the focus ring felt a bit gritty. I tried another in a shop and it was just the same so I just assumed that they were all like that. Other than that I was very happy with the lens and only sold it when going FF. Mine was sharp at f1.4.

I have just put a post up regarding travelling the world and thought about buying the Sigma 1.4 as a good street / walk around lens.

I do like the look of it and tend to like the build of a Sigma Lens.....
