I own a used Nikon fit Sigma 300mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM and the live-view AF does not function.

I have verified beyond doubt that this is a trait of the lens and not a fault with my camera body (Nikon D7200) by testing the lens with numerous brand-new bodies at a local camera store.

It has been back to Sigma several times and they are now finally claiming that it was never supposed to work in the first place due to the "old technology in the lens".

I personally find this very hard to believe as I've used plenty of much older lenses, even Sigma ones, and they focus fine in live-view.

I want to be sure that it is not faulty as I intend to sell the lens.

If anyone reading this who owns this lens could tell me whether their live-view AF works it would be very helpful - the more people the better.

Thanks

It's a well known fact that some older Sigma's don't AF in liveview on the newer Nikon bodies. Some can have the chip changed by Sigma but others are seemingly left out in the cold.
