Sigma 18-50mm f2.8

Pity it's not a constant 2.8, not really much different from the standard kit 18-55 IS.

If I didn't already have an f2.8 Tamron 17-50 I'd be seriously tempted with this.... Although now i've googled Camera King and read some of the reviews, I might not be so hasty....

If its anything like the one I bought and returned, don't waste your time or money

The sample I had was very poor, took exactly the same shot with identical settings on the 18-50 and my 17-70
The latter was considerably sharper without any stabilisation, took it back for a refund

Could have just been a duff one or maybe they are selling it off cheap because its not much use.

Have read that the Tamron stabilised 17-50 isn't as good as the original non stabilised version

In the end I weighed in for the Canon 17-55 and that is excellent albeit rather costly

It's a very different beast to the constant aperture f/2.8.

Has anyone gone for this yet? I was just about to buy it, then read some of the cameraking.com reviews. Thought I would come back here to see if anyone had problems.

For the money, it seems a no brainer seeing as I'm using the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6.

Its not a constant F2.8 so it doesnt tempt me

Im going to save for either the Sigma 17-70mm or 28-70mm (which is a constant F2.8)

It's that price normally anyway. It used to be around for £149 at Jacobs Digital. If it was the constant f2.8 I'd be grabbing one.
