Hi

Does anyone have that and the canon kit lens ad would be able to do some test pictures. I am after one and was wondering how they differ in IQ, sharpness etc.

thanks

Mark

I've just bought one, so I'm looking forward to seeing a huge mass of only positive posts:bat:

From the reading I've done the IQ is very good in the centre throughout the range but slightly soft @18mm at the edges, improving by stopping down.

Some reports complain of CA while others found none...go figure!

Anyway it seems like a great package for the money & I'm looking forward to it:D

I've got one and too be honest compared to the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 Di I'm not keen.

Not really that sharp at f/2.8, and its more of an 19-46mm as well.

I'm a Nikon shooter, as we have decent kit lenses, but even so....

bump....,

so would you go for the sigma 18-50mm or the tamron 17-50mm

I have the non HSM version on Nikon and think it's superb. Sigma do seem to have some QC issues though. If you get a good one, you'll be very impressed. A bad one, maybe less so. The Tamron is rated very highly too, though I'm yet to try one. Try before you buy if you can.
