Sigma 17-70mm f2.8 and Sigma 24-70 f2.8

Well.. for a start the Sigma 17-70 isn't an f/2.8 lens - in fact its only f/2.8 at 17mm, and increases up to f/4.5 at 70mm. Its for crop cameras. Optically its excellent.

The Sigma 24-70 is a constant aperture full frame lens, which is why its more expensive.

Because the 17-70mm is f/2.8 - f4 whereas the 24-70mm is f/2.8 through the range. ;)

I'm very happy with my 17-70 and it does give good flexibilty

I love my Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5 as well. It is a very good upgrade from the kit lens for the 400D.

24-70/2.8 is a constant 2.8 for full frame. 17-70 is 2.8-4.5 for aps-c only, although you can use it on full frame after 35 I think
