Managed to dodge the rain again today in an attempt to give my new Sigma 17-70 a try (on a Samsung GX-10). I'm extremely pleased with the results - contrast/sharpness & colour are very good indeed.

The only negative is that Sigma don't seem to have designed the lens to adjust the UK weather :)

A couple of "Welsh scenes" from today - apologies for the lighting but it's the only kind we've had here in the UK this year !!

Straight out of camera? Damn that's sharp.

Nice! Looking forward to some more shots soon!

Cheers,
James

hmmm, a sample from the lens i'm debating, looks nice and sharp, and you lucky git, you loive amogst the best scenery in the UK :D

Where abouts in N wales are you?

Lovely scenery you've got there. Congrats on the lens :)

I hear good things about the GX-10. How's it working out for you?

- Definitely am lucky to live near such great scenery, I'm in North Wales about 20 minutes from Llangollen / Vale of Clywd (where this was taken) & 1hr from Snowdon mountain.

A bit more on the lens -- I previously used the 18-55 kit lens & wasn't too happy with it - the 17-70 is a major step-up, I've only managed to take around 20 shots with it so far but my first impression was simply "WOW"

thanks

nice one, will have to go try it out next week then, with a view to purchasing it, could you possibly do me a favour?, it has a macro facility of 1:2.2, could you take a sample shot at closest zoom (70mm) so i can see, preferably with a link to a full size image, that would be great if you could.

I used to go to N. Wales a lot, had friends who lived in Dwgyfylchi (nr. Penmaenmawr) and it was lovely around there, used to go up into the hills / mountain behind and get scared on the Sychanant pass (sp). (when i were a kid anyway)

Tis a nice lens, had mine for a few months now, really impressed with it :).

I have this, and it is my day to day lens. It has been very reliable in a few situations where I wasn't!!

Cheerz:thumbs:

I'm very impressed with the GX-10, my first DSLR having previously owned a "prosumer" - Konica Minolta A200.

Build quality is impressive, functionality is excellent - dual control wheels are a great idea - forgot to mention image quality, can't fault it - the detail in images is much improved over my old KM
