I know this probably doesn't help but I have Tamron 17-50 f2.8 and its great and nice and sharp suspect the same will be for the sigma. Wont touch sharpness of a prime but you dont expect that.

Cool thank you it’s my short range list.

Had this on my 7dmk2 for a while. Loved it, sharp, fast af, I then sold it when I picked up the Canon 17-55, couldn't see any difference, would definitely recommend

Tried a very early one - the only lens I ever returned. The fringing was unacceptable, I replaced it with the Canon. The Tamron is apparently better optically, but the AF slower.

I was also considering a used 50mm canon f1.8 mk2. This end of the range I know little about I live at 400mm plus most of the time. But got the bug of some other things atm. Just found the 70-200 f2.8 was too long or too short.

Bought one from here a couple of months ago and I'm reasonably happy with it. Not the sharpest lens ever but it's not bad. As Phil says though some of the colour fringing in high contrast areas is horrendous

If you want a 50mm - buy the new STM one, S/H it might coast 20% more, but it's 100% better (build quality, focus motor, bokeh)
