Looking to replace my Nikon 18-55 kit lens ASAP and am having trouble choosing between the two. Has anyone compared the two, and what lens is considered the better performer of them? It's for use as a general use walk around lens. I can see the 17-50 is quite a bit cheaper, but is that price difference reflected in quality? It's to go on a D7200.

Look at a few of your photos and study the focal lengths they are taken at. If they are longer than 50mm then you have an answer.
Do you need 70mm over 50mm?

I had a couple of copies of the 17-50 2.8 on the D7500 and had very eratic focusing even in live view, I gave up and have a Nikon 16-85 at the moment until I can afford the 16-80. However if you go for the 17-70 you would be able to use the sigma dock to hopefully correct any focus issues, the 17-50 is not compatible with the dock.
