What do people think of these? looking at one with selling my Sigma 10-20, i just dont think i will use it much to warrant it and someone may aswell make alot more use than i would so its going and being picked up tonight

looking at getting the above lens

what do people think of it and is it worth it? hope to possibly pick it up this weekend

Were some good deals at Jessops on this lens end of last week in Nikon fit - i have it in Canon fit, very capable lens (i found it not wide enough on my crop sensor, but i've just gone full frame so its use will be increased ) - image quality on crop sensor was good, i've not tried it on full frame to see if the bigger sensor highlights any issues.

VERY variable lens. There are some good copies out there, but some as soft as the cake I just eat...

Cheers,
James

are there any other lens to look at? not in a rush to buy, maybe something like a 17-70?

The 17-70 SMOKES the 17-35 in my opinion. See my review, it's a top, top lens.

Cheers,
James

will have a look around a couple of lenses later on and look at reviews thanks, dont need a macro version however

I had the 17-35 and I think I had a bad one! - soft as **** and horrible yellow/green cast (Quite common on Sigmas' I believe.)

yellow/green cast? can you explain that one alittle more?

thanks

being put off this one now lol

All images have a yellow/green colour cast to them, it's only slight but when you photograph grass it looks terrible.

I have the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 and this has a very slight cast but is razor sharp.

I have numerous Canon lenses (including 'L' lenses) and these are pretty neutral, bordering on slightly cool. Not sure about Nikkon lenses but I guess they'll be pretty neutral like Canons.

Do a Search on Google for "sigma colour cast" and you'll see it's not just me being crazy!

ah i never knew that, i will try that out with my 100-300 F$

cant say i have had problems with shooting cars, and the glass on there looks normal

time to check

jessops are doing the 17-70 f2.8-4.5 for £80 at the moment normally just over £200.

i picked one up on monday and had a test run with it today. the results are rather pleasing

looks cool that does

i need the af-s fitting though of would have snapped that up

just remember by the time you buy an af-s lens for your d40, you aint far of px'ing it for a d80 and then having the option of better value lenses

Thats why i ditched my d40, excellent cam, but i felt limited, and when i made a list of what glass i would potentially buy, the difference in price to get it all in af-s scared the **** out of me

yeah i know, can imagine lol

looking at a D200 possibly later this year but will see

just looking now at AF lenses as appose to AF-S, god damn you lol

its got me wanting one more now, thanks haha

its ok lol, its been on my mind a few times of late

there is a delivery at home but i have been here at work since half 8 this morning so will find out if its that at 9ish
