Sigma 150-600mm sports version acts weird on canon 90D ??

I have the Big heavy beast Sigma 150-600mm sport lens and its always on my trusty old Canon Eos 7D mk2 which it works faultlessly with, however I decided to try it on my 90D and every picture was massively over exposed and washed out.

The exposure scale in viewfinder with any other lens i own when marker on centre exposure scale is always pretty spot on yet with the Sigma lens I have to use -1 to -1 and 2/3 as centre point of exposure scale to be anywhere close to correct exposure ?

Any ideas ? I was told that the old 150-600mm sport no longer has firmware updates as its the first version that came out some many years back and the newer DSLR cameras wont perform well on it , I really don't know I cant get any answers from anyone.

Sigma uk customer service are brilliant and helpful, give them a call, it could be as simple as your lens needs a software update, I have known Sigma to do that free of charge in the past
 
Your best bet is to phone sigma themselves . in Welwyn garden city I always found That the best option
 
Have you double checked the metering mode you are using in case it's been changed by mistake? :)

I have the same lens and I'm sure there was a firmware update some years back for the 90D because of this issue. You will need the Sigma dock to do it.

As a sidenote I have also tried it on a R5 and my R7 and it works great.

I have called Sigma today and there is a firmware update that corrects all the issues but can only be done at Sigma UK not at home, so I'm going to send or take it in myself as they can do while you wait

Also how do you rate the R7 as my trusty old 7d mk2 won't last much longer shutter wise lol,
I'm old school and hate change to latest technology

The tech in the R7 is fantastic but the body itself is horrible (IMO). If you are expecting a well built chunky camera like the 7DII then be prepared to be disappointed. The 150-600mm Sport is a nightmare to use on it due to the weight distribution.

Even a proper grip would help but Canon obviously :thinking: don't think it's worthwhile.
