Hi,

I was wondering what the Sigma 120-400mm APO DG OS USM lens is like? I'm thinking of getting one for airshow photography where i'll be shooting around the 300mm mark.

I used to have one, it's very good!

I'm on my phone so can't (be bothered) to post a link but if you go on my Flickr in animals and wildlife you'll see some - in particular a crow that was taken with said lens.

I can't fault it.

EDIT: Here's said shot...

The wife had a Sigma 120-400 OS while I had the 150-500 OS up until the end of last year. I sold the wifes lens and got a Canon 300 f4L IS and let the wife have my 150-500 (although I can still use it whenever I need to). Both lenses are excellent for planes, birds and other wildlife as well. I couldn't really fault the 120-400 but we just didn't have the room for it once the 300 came along. Here's a couple of pics taken with the 120-400, the bird shot was taken with my 5D3 and the plane with the 60D so you can get an idea of IQ with FF and crop. Both were taken as jpeg and neither have had any PP apart from a crop. Hope this helps.

Many thanks guys, and some great shot's aswell thanks for posting. It's really the cheapest lens that can reach 400mm. It looks like it will be going on my shopping list!

I'm considering this lens.. I'm choosing between the Sigma 80-400 OS and this..

Have you considered the 80-400..? Similar price range, but the 80-400 looks slightly limited in stock anywhere..!
